A native of Claremont, New Hampshire, she was one of four children of the late Adelard and Leonie (Lafreniere) Therriault.

Sister Monique held degrees – a B.A. in education from Mount St. Mary College in Hooksett, New Hampshire and a M.A. in religious education from Emmanuel College in Boston. Subsequent to teaching first graders, Sister Monique held positions in adult religious education and spirituality. For 38 years, Sister Monique responded to ministry needs of the New Hampshire Berlin and Gorham communities where she served as director/co-director of the Christian Life Center in Berlin, pastoral associate in Good Shepherd Parish, chaplain at the Androscoggin Valley Hospital, and pastoral counselor at the Gorham Medical Center. She also was a co-director at the Dover and Durham Christian Life Center.

Sister Monique's generosity and giftedness in volunteer services spread throughout the Berlin and Gorham communities. She launched the founding of Northern NH Charitable Fund, the Endowment for Health (1999-2002), and St. Kieran Community Center for the Arts. She provided spiritual guidance as convener of the Berlin/Gorham Clergy Association and served as spiritual director of Androscoggin Valley Hospital, Home Health & Hospice, Christian Education Ecumenical Task Force, and New England Symposium of Directors of Adult Religious Education

Sister Monique shared graciously and generously all her strong visionary and professional skills and gifts in her 72 years of life ministries as a Sister of Mercy. Sister Monique's dedication to the people was recognized when the Berlin/Gorham Rotary Club presented her with the 2002 Community Service Award.
