Steven Mleynek Obituary

Steven Mleynek

Wilmington, NC - Steven Paul Mleynek, 62, passed away on August 23, 2025, in Wilmington, North Carolina. Born on May 7, 1963, in Phoenix, Arizona, Steven carried the spirit of the desert with him throughout his life, a true "desert rat at heart".

Steven was a charismatic man whose gift for conversation made him a friend to everyone he met. With a quick wit and sharp mind, he could fill a room with laughter and warmth. He had a rare way of making people feel heard and seen, and those who knew him will remember his humor, intelligence, and kindness.

Steven embraced adventure and found joy in all things mechanical and outdoors. Whether it was cars, motorcycles, boating across open waters, or camping and fishing under the stars, he approached every pursuit with enthusiasm and skill. His artistic creations and projects, from fixing motorcycles to remodeling kitchens, reflected the same dedication and precision he brought to every aspect of his life. He loved to learn, tinker, and share his knowledge.

Above all else, Steven was an incredible provider with an unwavering work ethic. He gave his best to everything he did and to everyone he loved. He is survived by his devoted wife, Jennifer Newberry; his sons, Jonathan, Andrew, and Jacob; and his grandchildren, Helena, Zorka, Orin, and Malcolm. Beyond his family, there are countless others whose lives were touched by Steve's warmth, generosity, and laughter… far too many to name.

Thanks go to LifeCare for their compassionate hospice support. Deep gratitude is also extended to Steve's family for standing by him as he rode his last wheelie into Cranberry Land, a fitting farewell for a man who lived life full throttle.

May the memory of Steven inspire laughter, kindness, and adventure in the hearts of all he leaves behind.
