Grantham, NH — Tony Moroni Hanslin died peacefully in the Jack Byrne Center on May 11th, 2022, in Lebanon, NH at the age of 78.

Tony was born on August 7, 1943, in San Angelo, TX to Emil Hanslin and Maureen Hanslin. "Moroni" was his original first name in recognition of the actor, Moroni Olsen, who taught Tony's parents in drama school and became Tony's godfather. Moroni Olsen was an actor on the "I LOVE LUCY" show. He also had a role in the classic movie "The Long, Long Trailer." Tony named himself "Tony" as a little boy because that's how he first was able to pronounce "Moroni." His first name was later legally changed to "Tony" with "Moroni" as his middle name.

Tony grew up with his family in the small town of Melrose, MA. The family lived in the original farmhouse of a then still active apple orchard (Ellis Farm, eight miles from Boston). He earned pocket money by spraying apple trees and picking apples.

Tony attended Melrose public schools through the 9th grade. He then attended the Browne and Nichols School in Cambridge (1959-1962) where he was a member of its crew team.

After graduating from Browne and Nichols, he attended Dartmouth College, where he also was on the crew team, graduating in 1966 with a degree in Economics. Tony later graduated from Antioch University with a degree in Psychology. During Tony's time at Dartmouth, he took a leave of absence from school to serve in the U. S. Coast Guard.

Tony lived in New Seabury, MA and New London, NH during his early adult life before settling in Grantham, NH.

He married Holly Ostrander, in 2003.

He was the co-developer and part owner of the Controlled Environment Corporation which owned the private community of Eastman, located within the town of Grantham, and the owner of Yankee Barn Homes until 2012. During Tony's leadership of YBH, the company expanded by a large margin providing new barn style homes to hundreds of families throughout the United States and Internationally.

Upon retirement, Tony embarked on his passion, studying, and practicing Tai chi. He also acquired certification from Rock Steady Boxing, a program which teaches boxing to people with Parkinson's. He instructed for several years.

His stepdaughters, Kirsten Baran-Glennon of Boston, MA and Lisa Lemont of Brisbane, AU, remember him as a kind and gentle father figure, who encouraged them to pursue their goals and always be true to themselves.

He was a witty individual who loved cracking jokes and who was passionate about reading, politics, his family, and his dogs.

Surviving family members include his wife, Holly Ostrander; Kirsten Baran-Glennon and Lisa Lemont, daughter-in-law Stephanie Baran-Glennon, son-in-law Eric Lemont, and son Tyler Hanslin; siblings, Lars Hanslin of Chevy Chase MD, Susu Wing of Arlington, MA, and Laurie Hanslin of Hanover, NH.

A Celebration of Life is planned for June 2022.
