I was glad to have spent a couple of years with Dave. He was a fantastic Marine and I know he was likely very much the same in his ministry. I missed linking up with him the last time I was passing through Barstow in 2008, and am kicking myself for not trying harder. He is missed.

My condolences to Maureen and the family. We served together 1997-1999. I will cherish the memories of a great man & mentor to me. I still have the Bible he presented me, when I told him that I didn't have one in my house! I know he has touched many people who will forever remember his lasting legacy. He is with God now.

My deepest condolences to the family of David Buell. I am very sorry for your loss. I have very fond memories of David as I used to work for him at the logistics bas there in Barstow when I was young Marine. It was his genuine love and caring for Marines that I was able to continue my career.
His faith and genuine desire to reach others through it will never be forgotten.God Bless and Semper Fidelis

I just found out about the passing of Dave while trying to figure out how to get back in touch with him after all these years. I served with him while stationed at Barstow from 1996 to 2000. The last couple days I have felt this overwhelming need to tell him that some of the things he told me when I was a young SSgt and he an experienced MSgt has finally sunk in after all this time. One thing in particular. He once told me to never let your job change your personality. Now that I have almost 26 years in the Marine Corps, and I am a MGySgt, I find myself constantly having to remind myself to not let the job change me. No matter how tough the work or how hard it is to get along with the people you work with, don't let the job or the people turn you into something you don't like. I will remember those words the rest of my life. Thank you Dave.

I remember I was sitting in church one night with him he just got off duty at the base and he was still in uniform he was waiting on sister maurine to bring his civilian close and I ask what's the big deal if you are still in uniform and off base he said it was against the rules so I said who would know but he told me that he would know I knew then that Dave was man of integrity . And that statement has always stuck with me
