Douglas Caldwell Obituary

With fallen hearts, we have to say goodbye to a man so dear and precious to our lives, Douglas Gregory Caldwell, 1949-2009. Our blessing arrived on May 31, 1949 in Roanoke, Virginia. Growing up with a love and passion for cars and motorcycles which developed into something stronger than anyone could ever imagine. There wasn't a hotrod he didn't love or a motorcycle he couldn't enjoy. From car show to car show, the passion grew stronger and became the foundation of his life.

In January of 1968, he joined with his wife, Jackie. Together they built their lives and started their family. Hand in hand they built dreams, love, hope, and memories. Enjoying the last four months together in retirement, taking trips on the motorcycle and trying to make it to every car show possible.

On a beautiful Friday evening, doing what he loved, he had a motorcycle accident. It was August 21, 2009, Doug entered the gates of heaven. Though he will be missed he will live on in our hearts forever.

Doug is survived by his wife, Jackie Caldwell, his son, Tommy, Brother and Sister-in-law, Curtis and Diane, a Sister, Connie, Aunts and Uncles, Nieces and Nephews, three grandchildren and so many friends and loved ones.

Services for Doug will be held on Thursday at 12:00 P.M. at Sunset Hills Memorial Chapel, 24000 Waalew Road, Apple Valley with Tom Owens Sr. Officiating. Interment services will be Monday at Daleville Cemetery, Daleville, Virginia.

Sunset Hills Memorial Park and Mortuary is handling the arrangements.
