Karen Claxton Obituary

Karen Lee Claxton passed away Sept. 17, 2006. Karen was born June 30, 1958, and was a resident of Victorville. She worked for San Bernardino County for 24 years. Karen is survived by her parents, Grover and Jerean Claxton of Hesperia; sister Rae Matlock of Tucson, Ariz.; niece Jamie Matlock of Tucson, Ariz.; nephew Joel Matlock of Garland, Texas; great-nephew Sebastian Matlock of Tucson, Ariz.; and partner in life, Tom Iverson of Victorville. Karen was outgoing, loving and believed life was to be lived. We will never forget her Halloween parties. Our lives are richer and blessed that we knew her. We will miss her dearly. Karen and I loved each other like a close brother and sister. We started our relationship at the SB County Assessor´s Office in 1980´s. We had our times together after work with a drink and a few laughs. Then we became closer over time. We were not lovers, but family. We could talk about our personal lives and lean on each other. Karen visited me in Costa Rica with her partner Tom. She told me I was crazy to marry and have a child at my age of 65. We spent her last New Years at a party together and then I sent Tom and her on their way in touring CR. I could not imagine that would be the last time we drank and laugh together. I miss my soul sister, KC.
