Nathaniel Collins Obituary

Nathaniel Odell Collins, 86, died Aug. 30, 2007, at his home in Victorville. He resided in Victorville for 60 years. He was born Dec. 29, 1920, in Ida, La. He was employed by Southwestern Portland Cement Co. (now named Cemex) in Victorville for a continued length of service of 40 years. He attended Friendly Temple Church of God In Christ (also known as Victorville Church of God in Christ) for 57 years. He was a World War II veteran.He is survived be his wife, Elizabeth Collins, of Victorville; daughter Jeannette Belton of Lantana, Texas; daughter Diane Collins-Jones of Las Vegas, Nev.; sister Lessie Polk of Victorville; sister Irene Savannah of Bullhead City, Ariz.; sister Jerlean Stepps of Victorville; brother Otis C. Collins of Victorville; brother Truman Collins of Las Vegas, Nev.; brother Isiah Collins of Detroit, Mich.; brother Robert Collins of Shreveport, La., and five grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Victor Valley Memorial Park, 11478 Amargosa Road in Victorville. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Friendly Temple Church of God in Christ, 16370 E St. in Victorville, with Dr. Roger Thomas officiating. Burial will be at Desert View Memorial Park.Victor Valley Mortuary is handling arrangements.
