Shirley Lynn Reyes, a longtime resident of Barstow, went to be with her Savior on September 17, 2019. Shirley was born on August 13, 1961 in Banning, California. Shirley worked as a civilian employee at Fort Irwin where she befriended many service members and their families. She also enjoyed her time working and volunteering with the Barstow school district. One constant in Shirley's life was her love of family and friends. Her nieces and nephews all have memories of spending time with their aunt. It wasn't Christmas unless you had one of her special Christmas tree cakes. Shirley is survived by her sister, Jo Ann Teal (Kevin), and their children Tyler, Justin, and Peyton; niece Sara (Michael) and great nephews Christian, Ethan, and Gavin; nephew Stephen Houghton; nephew Kyle Bruhn (Danielle) and their children Garrick and Lydia; nephew Bryson and his son Elijah; and her beloved aunts, uncles, and cousins. A celebration of Shirley's life will be on Sunday, October 13th at First Baptist Church in Barstow, starting at 3:00pm. Reception to follow.

Great memories of Shirley we grew up across the street went to school together oh yes I remember Shirley's cakes we shared birthdays together also hers was on the 13th and mine was on the 14th she never forgot my birthday Shirley was so special and very loving she was a special person to her family.
She will never be forgotten.
Shirley was very proud of her family and her nieces and nephews she would always talk about them when she would come visit my mom. We love you Shirley and miss you everyone that you touch misses you you helped everyone in so many ways and touch so many people and I know your little students that you helped at school miss you. Shirley....
I'm so very sorry to hear that you passed away.
To your family, I met Shirley when we moved to Barstow when I was in the 3rd grade in 1970. We graduated together in 1980. I left Barstow and didn't come back for 15+ years and as soon as I saw her it was like seeing her in the 3rd grade. She hasn't ever changed!
