Tommy Anderson Obituary
Reverend Tommy C. Anderson, 74, passed away peacefully with his family at his side on Feb. 20, 2003. His departure followed a two-week battle with the effects of a stroke. Anderson was born in Oklahoma City, Okla. on June 19, 1928. Following his graduation from high school, he began a career in ministry that was to span more than five decades. He was an accomplished pianist and singer, and as a young man performed with a number of gospel musical groups, including The Stamps Quartet, The Weatherfords and The Legionnaires. Before coming to Victorville in 1977, he pastored churches in Bartlesville, Okla., St. Joseph, Mo. and Phoenix, Ariz. He came to the High Desert to assume the duties of pastor of the First Assembly of God Church. He held that position for 23 years, until his retirement three years ago. Anderson's vision and perseverance led to the purchase of the property and the construction of the building complex on the northwest corner of Balsam and Nisqualli roads in Victorville. It would become home to Victorville First Assembly of God and Victor Valley Christian School. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Billie; his son Gary and his wife, Jerrianne; son Larry and his wife, Gina; son Randy and his wife, Rhonda; daughter Sandy Myers and her husband, Rusty; grandchildren Caleb, Kim, Joshua, Matthew, Austin, Jonathan, Michael, Aaron, Tommy, Reagon, Rhylee and Kaley; his sister Juanita; his brother J.B. and nieces and nephews. To many, he was a wonderful and nurturing pastor. To his family, he was a loving, affectionate and generous husband, father and grandpa. To his Savior, he was and always will be, a good and faithful servant. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the F irst Assembly of God Church, 15260 Nisqualli Road, Victorville. His funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the First Assembly of God Church. Contributions may be made to the Tommy C. Anderson Memorial fund through First Assembly of God, 15260 Nisqualli Road, Victorville, CA 92392. Any donations received will be used to endow the church with Bibles for congregational use. Kern Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements.
