Jan. 5, 1947, - Jan. 15, 2021

Barbara Dyer, 74, of Jonesboro, passed away Friday, January 15, 2021, in Waco, Texas. Graveside services are scheduled for 2 p.m., Thursday, January 21, at Jonesboro Cemetery, with James Baize officiating.

Barbara was born January 5, 1947, in Coryell County, Texas, to the late Nolan and Ivalene Wilson Pruitt. She graduated from Turnersville High School in 1964. Barbara attended college at Temple Junior College. She received her BA and Masters Degree from Tarleton in Stephenville. First taught school in Jonesboro and then one year in Copperas Cove and finished her 40-year teaching career in Gatesville. She married the love of her life Billy Dyer on July 31, 1964. They had one son, Bill Dyer, Jr. born in 1970. Throughout their time together they were avid golfers and shared a passion for Baylor Basketball, both boys and girls.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 55 years, Billy Dyer; son, Bill Dyer; sister, Darlene Anderson; brothers-in-law, Jerry Wolfe, Don Wolfe and Dick Gellasch.

Barbara is survived by sisters, Nelda Gellasch and Louise Wolfe; brother, Larry Pruitt and wife, Cheryel; nieces, Rhonda Carrigan and Jill Cockrell; nephews, Ricky Wolfe, Rodney Wolfe, Clint Pruitt and Travis Pruitt; great-nieces, Bridgette Bartek and Starr Pruitt; great nephews, Kevin Mathis, Jared Wolfe and Conner Wolfe; and special friend, Johnnye Gautier.

Memorials may be made to the Jonesboro VFD. P. O. Box 6, Jonesboro, Texas 76538.
