Bobby Sullivan Obituary

Bobby E. Sullivan, 90, of Franklin, Texas passed away on Wednesday, August 28, 2013 at his residence. Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, August 31, at 2:00 the Franklin Church of Christ. Ministers Jay Tyree and Al Jolly will officiate. Burial will follow in the Franklin Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, August 30, at McCauley Funeral Home in Franklin, Texas.

He was born on November 17, 1922 in Bokchito, Oklahoma to Cameron L. and Madge Mitchell Sullivan. Bobby was a 1940 graduate of Bokchito High School and attended Southeastern State College in Durant, Oklahoma until World War II began.

During World War II, he served in the United States Army as a military police escort guard for prisoners of war. He was part of the forces responsible for transporting by ship German and Italian POW's from North Africa, Italy and France to the United States. He was a proud veteran. It was during this time that he was stationed for a time at Camp Hearne where he met his future wife, Marjorie Reagan. They were married in Springfield, Missouri on July 3, 1945.

Bobby served as manager of the Robertson Electric Cooperative for 21 years and he retired in 1985. During his years in Franklin, he was President of the Lions Club twice, President of the Chamber of Commerce and served on the City Council for eight years. He also was President of the Franklin Cemetery Association for 11 years. He helped organize the Franklin Ambulance Service and served as its president for 11 years also.

Bobby was a faithful member and leader in the Franklin Church of Christ and served as elder for many years. He loved his church and his country.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie; daughter, Renee Sullivan; parents, Cam and Madge Sullivan; brothers, C.L. Sullivan, Mitchell Sullivan and his wife, Neva; sister, Elaine Sullivan; brother-in-law, Cecil Reagan; and sister-in-law, Helen M. Reagan.

He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Annette Sullivan, of Franklin; two grandchildren, Benjamin R. Sullivan and Elaine A. Sullivan; niece and husband, Jan and Bondey Mays, of Irving; great-niece and husband, Kelly and D.J. Overman, of Richmond; great-nephew, Jordan Mays of Dallas

Donations may be made to the Franklin Church of Christ, Hospice Brazos Valley or Franklin Cemetery Association

Sullivan family,
Your father was a good friend of mine for a lot of years. I worked for Navasota Valley Electric when he retired. I enjoyed visiting with him at church when I would come to visit my grandmother, Nora Swingler. I feel like a part of the Franklin family and they will always have a very special place in my heart. Cannot attend as my daughter is in the hospital in Waco at this time. I love yall much.
