Delores Ann Dillard (D.D.) Evans

(D.D.) Delores Ann Dillard (D.D.) Evans, 80, of Waco passed away peacefully Saturday, September 16, 2023, with her son, Harvey and grandson, Cody, by her side. A Memorial Service will be 10 a.m., Saturday, September 23, at Central United Methodist Church in Waco.

D.D. was born October 14, 1942, in Temple Tx to Lillian and Boyd Dillard. She was a graduate of Temple High School and Mary Harden Baylor University. She married Herbert Lyman Evans on August 22, 1964, and they adopted Harvey in June of 1975.

D.D. was a schoolteacher for 37 years coaching girls' sports and she taught both High School and Grade school teaching in Houston, Temple, Whitney, Palestine, and ender her career with Waco ISD. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Epsilon Chi Chapter and served in many various leadership capacities throughout the years.

She is survived by her son, Harvey and wife, Linda Evans; brother, Donald Dillard; sister, Sally and husband, Gene Schaffer; grandson, Cody Evans; niece, Danylle and Husband, Jason; great-niece, Georgia; and great-nephew, Dillard Leeds; niece, Becky and husband, James; and great-nephew, Zach Frazee.

D.D. was a member of Central United Methodist Church, Past President of her Sunday school Class, and worked with the Meals on Wheels Program. She had many church friends including her remarkably close Bridge Friends.

She was preceded in death by husband, Herbert in Dec. 1998; and close friend, Calvin Meadors in Sept 2007.
