Doris Collinsworth Obituary

Doris Bea Collinsworth, our beloved mother, sister, grandmother and Gee, 82, of Gholson, went to be with her Savior on Saturday, May 26, 2007, in Temple. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at the First Baptist Church of Gholson with the Rev. Brad Moore officiating. Burial will follow at Gholson Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Doris was born Aug. 16, 1924, in rural Limestone County, to James Wilson and Nellie Jane (Spires) Collinsworth. She was the eldest daughter of five. She was married for 36 years to Gerald McNeil McCarver. She owned and operated a laundry mat in Riesel for many years. Doris then moved to Falls County where she lived for many years before moving to Gholson, where she lived with her daughter, Tammy for the last 14 years. She was a homemaker who loved caring for others. She spent her life loving and putting her Lord first. She was an endowed member of The Order of the Eastern Star. She always offered words of encouragement and love to all that needed it. Doris loved life and faced all that it brought her way with words from scripture and a tender smile. She loved her family, hummingbirds and bluebonnets. She loved her conversations with her sister, Janie, they always left her with a smile on her face. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought her much happiness in life. Her family feels very blessed to have had as much time as they did with her. Our Gee will be greatly missed but never forgotten to all of us who loved her. Her family has great peace in knowing that she is spending eternity in paradise with Jesus, where we will join together again. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, James Wilson Jr. and Roy Vernon Collinsworth. Survivors include her sister, Janie Margaret Blann of Aledo; a brother, H.R. "Buddy" Collinsworth and wife, Guynell of Mart; two daughters, Tammy Allen and Carolyn Hardy and husband, Donald, all of Gholson; four grandchildren, Amber Young and husband, Shawn, Gerald Biles and wife, Cheryl, Tracy Kennedy and Carolyn Ashcraft; ten great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn Bea and Mckayla Gann Young, Shawn, Brittany, Isabella and James Kennedy, and Brandi, Dory, Robert and William Ashcraft; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Pallbearers are Gerald Biles, Shawn Young, Sean Blann and Bobby Dowdle. You are invited to share your thoughts and memories about Doris in our guestbook found at www.aderholdfuneralhome.com.
