Dorothy Curry Obituary

Dorothy Esther Jander Curry, 98, of Riesel, went to her Heavenly home on September 22, 2023. The visitation will be at 9:00 am Monday, September 25, 2023, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 1301 Hogan Lane, Waco, Texas with services following at 10:00 am. Dr. Reverand Brian Hesse of St. Paul Lutheran Church will be officiating. Burial will follow at Riesel Cemetery.

Dorothy was born January 6, 1925, in Riesel, Texas to Edward John Lueck and Elvinia Emilie Kunkel. While growing up in Riesel, she enjoyed working on the family farm with her brothers and sisters. She graduated from Riesel High School. She married Raymond Jander and enjoyed many years of marriage. During this time, she obtained her LVN license and worked in the Nursing profession. After Raymond's death, she met and married J.C. Curry of Mart, Texas.

She was preceded in death by husbands, Raymond, and J.C.; parents Edward and Elvinia; Siblings Agnes Roberts, Tillie Roeder, Gussie Roeder, Adeline Fenske, Arthur Lueck, Lillian Sielaff and Roy Lueck.

She is survived by her son, Tim Jander and wife Linda of Lorena; daughter, Jane Jander Kersten and husband Jim of Riesel; son, Philip Jander and wife Linda of Lorena; grandchildren, Jared Jander and wife Robin; Travis Kersten and wife Kathy; Todd Kersten; Jennifer Jander Brookshire and husband Joe; Baxter Jander and wife Lexie; Luke Jander and wife Sydney; Tracy Jander King and husband Drew; and Emily Jander; great-grandchildren, Kylie and Landon Jander; Sawyer, Darby and Brenna Kersten; Eva Brookshire; and Josie and Briggs Jander, and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff and residents of St. Anthony's Care Center.

Memorial donations may be given to St. Paul Lutheran Church, 1301 Hogan Lane, Waco, Texas 76705.
