Fred Cotten Obituary

Fred Sylvin Cotten, 99, of Waco, passed away at a local care center. Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 11, at Columbus Avenue Baptist Church, 1300 Columbus Ave., with Dr. David Shuttlesworth officiating. Burial will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Holland Cemetery in Kountze, Texas. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd. Fred was born in Hardin County, Texas, to William Fletcher and Martha (Rountree) Cotten. He married the love of his life, Bernice Davidson, on April 27, 1934, who preceded him in death in 1979. Fred was a member of the Columbus Avenue Baptist Church since 1933, and was also a deacon. He was a member of the U.C.T. & Gideons Int. of Waco and retired as a Civil Service Employee at James Connally A.F.B. He is survived by his daughters, June Duncan, and Amy McCuistion and her husband, Bob, all of Waco, and Martha Ann Prickitt and her husband, Charlie of N.C.; brothers, Harvey Cotten and wife, Ellamae of Rusk and C.J. Cotten and his wife, Annalee of La Grange; six granddaughters; two grandsons; and seven great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to Columbus Avenue Baptist Church or Gideons Int.
