Janet Marie (Rhoades) Ross, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, went to be with Jesus on September 30, 2025, in Waco, Texas, at the age of 85. Born on August 15, 1940, in Hays, Kansas, she was the cherished daughter of Bernice and Charles Rhoades. Janet lived a full and beautiful life marked by love, compassion, and unwavering faith.
She is survived by her best friend and loving husband of 64 years, Gary David Ross; three daughters, Beth Grimes (Tim), Garret Jackson (Kevin), and Shelly McQuillan (Michael); and grandchildren, Taylor Buchanan (Connor), Lauren Jackson (Mike), Emily Collier (Steven), Kayla Tivis (Josh), Jonathan Grimes (Emmy), Catherine McQuillan (Dale), Elizabeth Jeffers (Jonathon), and Madeline McQuillan. Janet was also blessed with seven cherished great-grandchildren, Malakai, Adler, Emberlee, Phoebe, Garrison, Callum and Charlotte. She is also survived by her brother, Jim Rhoades, and his wife, Judy.
Janet was a source of strength and warmth to all who knew her. She offered unconditional love and support to her family and friends, always extending special care to those in need. Her deep faith guided her life and inspired those around her. She lived with grace and kindness, bringing joy and comfort to many.
A lifelong learner, Janet was curious about the world and embraced every opportunity to grow and understand more deeply. Her compassionate spirit and generous heart touched countless lives, and her legacy of love continues to live on in those she leaves behind.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Bernice Rhoades, and her sister, Judith Rhoades.
Janet's memory will be cherished by her family and all who had the privilege of knowing her. She loved it well, and her beautiful spirit remains a guiding light in our hearts.
Funeral Mass was celebrated on Sunday, October 5, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. at Providence Village Chapel, 300 W. State Hwy 6, Waco, Texas. Memorials are suggested to Compassion International, one of Janet's favorite charities at compassion.com.
