Johnny was the funniest guy. He would also very quiet unless he really knew you. I still miss you. I normally don't write on this board but couldn't help but to respond to all of these lovely people who have written such beautiful things. I just wanted to update that Jackie, Johnny's mom lives in Corpus and we currently do not have a phone # for contact. She recently moved there and lost her phone. Thanks for all the lovely sentiments written and may god bless all of you

Our daughter plays for a softball organization called the Texas Bombers. Every year, they were jerseys honoring a member of our military who paid the ultimate price. This past year she had the honor of wearing Lance Corporal Johnny Strong's name on her back. When researching this young man, we were humbled by his service and sacrifice. We would love to present this jersey to the family and thank them. Thank you Corporal Johnny Strong for teaching our daughter what true sacrifice is.

I just read all the entires and realized I never said anything.

Johnny,

You were a big part of my life and my heart. While you are no longer apart of my life, you are still apart of my heart. 'I just wish' and 'What could have been' were a big part of my life for the longest time. Losing you was the hardest thing I ever had to go through. Technically at the time I didn't have you but I always thought we had time. I missed your birthday this year and the anniversary of your death. Life has just been hard this year. I just wanted to let you know I miss you still and think of you every chance I get.

I love you Johnny Ray.

Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there; I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow,
I am the sun on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there; I did not die.

To the Strong Family,
Johnny was one of my favorite students at A.J. Moore even though I did not have him in my classes. After school Johnny and a few of his buddies would come to my classroom and just talk. I miss those conversations. As a Air Force disabled vet. I know the sacrifices that families make to insure that Americans can enjoy their freedoms. Johnny is not just a former student, he paid the ultimate price ,now he is a fallen comrade, and a true hero. My thoughts and prayers are with you in your time of grief. May your memories bring you comfort.

Dear Family and Friends of L/Cpl Strong,
No words will begin to fill the empty spot in your hearts. The tears will fall for some time to come. I know, because I lost my son, Marine L/Cpl. Carl L. Raines, II to a roadside bomb on 10-06-05 near the city of Qaim Al Anbar Province.
I still grieve and will until I behold his face once more in Heaven. If there is any comfort for you, may I offer this advice. Remember Johnny for the good times, the smiles, and the laughter. On days when the sun is unusually bright or the birds singing especially beautiful, just take it for a fact, that Johnny is there with you, encouraging you.
I was with 2/7 in Vietnam from May 1968 to Dec 1969. I salute you my brother. Semper Fi!. Rest in Peace.

My niece was friends with Johnny and I knew of him only from the time she would mention him and from his myspace page, which she directed me to so I could "see" her friend. He was SO loved my his classmates, this was VERY obvious. In "knowing" Johnny in this way, I felt heartbroken when my niece's mother told me the news. I literally wept and wept for the loss. For the parents who have lost their son and for the friends who have lost their beloved Johnny. I have two small boys and I tried to imagine losing them in such honorable circumstances, but too soon nontheless. My heart continues to go out to your family and you are in my prayers daily. When I heard about the flags in California, I was again touched so deeply. What an impact this young man has had on my life, as well as the lives of MANY MANY others. I've heard that impacting the life of even one person means something. Well, from a 35-year-old wife and mother-of-two living in Austin, I want you to know, your boy has forever left an impression on my heart. God bless you all and THANK YOU for giving us such a wonderful soldier in your Johnny.

Dear Strong Family,

I only got to know Johnny a few times briefly, but he was a great person. One of my favorite memories of Johnny was when I put a car stereo in Ashlee's car as a surprise to her while she was napping, only to find out that it didn't work. The next day, Johnny came to visit Ashlee and somehow found the broken wire that I missed, somewhere under there. Thank God there are people like Johnny! He is a true hero. May God bless everyone he knew.

I am a Vietnam Marine Widow and if you ever need anything please contact me. I work with many Gold Star Families here in Az and Some at Ft. Hood. There is a Gold Star Family Center there that I hope you will visit when you are ready.

May you be blessed with knowing there are many Americans who are here to help your family during this loss and we will never forget the "Ultimate Sacrifice" you son has given. I have family in Woodway Tx and will be there in July if you would like to contact me.

Dearest Mr. and Mrs. Strong, and Especially Bonnie Williams,
We are so sorry that this has happened, and we want you to know how much we are praying for you. Johnny is such a special person, and it is so hard to believe that he has moved on to the next life after such a short time here. You are all in our hearts, and the residents at Scarborough II remember fondly his sharing a meal with us for the holiday!
Sincerely and with love,
the veterans and staff of all the Scarborough homes.

I am writing you with a heavy heart because I went through SOI and the fleet with your son Johnny. Although I was never with him in Iraq, I just wanted to say that he was a good marine and an even better person. He was very kind spirited and just an all around nice guy. I will miss him dearly but always remember the times we talked. I send this with my love and my deepest condolences.

The Moore Family would like to express our heartfelt condolences for the loss of your son Johnny. He was such fine, polite, and respectful young man. Johnny graduated with my daughter Melissa and was a friend with my son Jon at A.J. Moore. He was one of my kids who came to the house to watch movies, play video games, eat pizza and hang out. My little one Mikal thought he had a cool car (green Eclispe)that was fast, he went for a ride with Johnny, Jessica and Melissa. The last time I got to see him was the 2005 Graduation. I told him how handsome he and Jonathan looked in their dress uniforms. He just smiled that quite shy smile and said thank you. I hugged him tightly and told him to be safe and be careful, to stay alert, that I would be keeping him in my prayers, he just said smiled and said thank you again. My heart truly aches for your family and your loss, and all the kids who were close to Johnny. He was loved and liked by many. I thank the Lord that our lives were blessed to have been touched by this special angel. May the Lord Bless You and Keep You. You are all in our prayers. To those who still have love ones there you are all in my prayers.

May God bless the family of Johnny Strong during this time of sadness and may He provide comfort in your grieving. Although I have never met you, please allow me to share with you this old Marine’s perspective of Johnny’s passing. Johnny, one of the few and proud, earned the right to wear the Eagle, Globe, and Anchor, and claim the title, United States Marine. He was living his honorable dream. He also had in-depth knowledge of the rich history of those who had gone before him. From this, like all other Marines, he developed a sense of belonging to something that would outlive his own mortality. Every Marine who ever lived is living still - in the Marines who claim the title today. I am so sorry for the loss of your loved one, yet; I am grateful for his honorable service and humbled by his ultimate sacrifice. God bless you for raising such a fine man.

Its been so long since I've seen Johnny. He was just a kid and to learn that he grew up and served his country, I know in my heart that he made everyone proud. Including God almighty. He was thinking of others first before himself. JOY-Jesus first, Others second, and Yourself Last. He will be missed. Your in my prayers, God bless you.

To Johnny's family and my fellow bulldogs:

When I heard about Johnny's passing, I must admit that I didn't know what to say or do. There is nothing that can make this time easier for any of us. It is always difficult to lose a loved one and a friend.

Now, we mourn the loss and celebrate Johnny’s remarkable life.

Johnny was a honorable man and made the ultimate sacrafice for his country. His loyalty to his country, his family, his friends, and aquantiances was remarkable.

Johnny's character and personality enriched our lives. I must say that I am very lucky to have known such a special person like Johnny.

Johnny Strong, you will truly be missed.
