Laurie Guest Obituary

Laurie Lynn Guest, 62, of Woodway, passed away peacefully at home Tuesday, March 25, 2025. A visitation will be held from 3 to 5 p.m., Sunday, March 30, 2025, at Grace Gardens Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, March 31, 2025, at Grace Gardens Funeral Home with Dr. David Tate officiating. Interment will follow at Moody Cemetery.
Laurie was born June 9, 1962, to Bill and Nelda Martin in Wichita Falls, Texas. In 1974 her family relocated to Woodway and she spent much of her childhood and teen years involved in Camp Fire Girls, youth group activities, and running around with her friends. Graduating from Midway High School in 1980, she then attended McLennan Community College, followed by Baylor University, earning a Bachelor's Degree in Education. In May of 1983, she married Ray Guest and they enjoyed a 41-year marriage. Following her Baylor graduation, she embarked on a career spanning 29 years, teaching 3rd grade at Connally ISD. Laurie enjoyed watching crime drama tv shows, Hallmark movies (especially Christmas ones), playing Bunco, koala bears, shopping, taking photos of everyday moments, and putting together jigsaw puzzles. She had the amazing and unique ability to make everyone feel special. Not one to chase after the worldly extravagrances of life, her passions, even from a young age, were to be an honorable daughter, a caring sister, a loving wife, mother, and homemaker. She was all of that and more……an amazing educator, friend, survivor, aunt, cousin, daughter, wife, mother, and sister.
She was preceded in death by her father Bill Martin in 1990, her mother Nelda Martin in 2007, and her grandparents.
Laurie is survived by her husband, Ray; her son, Rush Guest; brother Rod Martin of Woodway; sister Tani Caudle and husband Terry of Boonville, NC; nephew Taylor Guest and wife Leah of Killeen; niece, Brooke Guest of McGregor; great-niece Sophie Guest; sister-in-law, Dawn Turner and husband, Woody, of McGregor.
