Maxine Hand Obituary

Maxine Hand, 90, of Waco passed away Friday, Aug. 22, 2008.Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 27, at Oakwood Cemetery with Greg Brumit officiating. Maxine was born to Opal and Harper D. Scillian in Evanston, Wyoming on March 7, 1918. She graduated from Weber State University in Ogden, Utah, served as a secretary to officers of the U.S Army Air Force during World War II, and was the loving wife of Charles E. Hand for 45 years. She was an employee of the Baylor University Chemistry Lab for several years, a member of Western Heights Baptist Church, and an avid reader and patron of the Hewitt Public Library until the time of her death. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles. She is survived by her sister, Danette Jacobson of Longview, Washington; her children, D. Scott Hand and wife, Mary Ann of Waco, Celeste McDonald and husband, Steve of Hewitt, and Curtis Hand and wife, Amy of McGregor; grandchildren, Shawn Hand of Kingwood, Texas, Ryan Hand, Laura Hagan and Holly Meadows, all of Dallas, Casey Fieseler of Kerrville, Texas, and Steven McDonald of Waco; and six great grandchildren. The family is grateful for all the love and care from the staff of Brazos Kidney Disease Center, the doctors of Central Texas Nephrology Associates and the nurses and staff at Providence Hospital.
