Nan ConleeFelton Obituary

Nan ConleeFelton, 59, of Waco, passed awaypeacefully at home April 3, 2012, surrounded by family. Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday,April 7, at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Waco with Fr. Chuck Treadwell officiating.

Nan was born Dec. 3, 1952, in Bryan, Texas, to Douglas and Betsyana Conlee. She moved to Waco with her familyin1958andgraduated from Richfield High School. She attended Sam Houston State University and graduated with an Education degree. NanmarriedThomas Edward Felton on April 24, 1970.

Our sweet Mother was so many things to so many people. Nan led her life, nurtured her family and influenced her friends in a way that was admired by all. She was always a leader, officially or unofficially managing any event she was involved in, affectionately earning the nickname, "Ms. Full Charge". She enjoyed planning her Conlee family reunion and dearly loved all of herConleecousins like they were her siblings.

Nan lovedtraveling all over Texas, Mexico and Europe. Family trips toCaboSanLucas, andgirl trips to Tuscany and San Miguel are just a few. Nan was always regarded as a fabulous cook. She hosted countless supper clubs, dinner parties, and family functions, constantly outdoing herself. People always wanted to know which dish Nan made because it would be the best and would be the first to go.

Nan cherished her family time and traditions like Saturday morning Mexican breakfastand weekends at the river house. Family was always first with Nan. Even though she was born a Conlee, Nan stepped into her role in the Felton family and was loved and endeared by them all. Nothing made her happier than her timewithher precious grandchildren, Boots, Taylor, and Conlee. From baby-sitting, going to movies, and swimming, to getting haircuts and buying school clothes, Nan was always there. Her time with them over this last year was such a gift to us all and she savored every moment. She used to say that she always wanted girls and the minute she got her twodaughters-in-law, she made sure that every moment they had with her was "Mother/Daughter" quality time. She was so blessed to have such a wonderful upbringing with the love and guidance of her parents, Betsy and Doug. And of course her middle sister bond with Cindy and Kim are hard to put into words.

Nan was the embodiment of what a mother should be, making every sacrifice through her early married life to give Mark and Clayton every opportunity and experiencetwo boys could ask for. Nan was everything a wife could possibly be to her husband, Tom. They have been through so much together. They were the perfect example of what a married couple should be.We will always cherish their relationship and how it positively affected all of our lives.

In her final days, Nan experienced the tender love and constant attention of herimmediate family, Father Chuck Treadwell and numerous hospice caretakersas she was welcomed into the Kingdom of Heaven.

Nan wasprecededin death by her father, DouglasConlee.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 41 years, Thomas Felton of Waco; mother,BetsyanaConleeof Waco; sisters, Cindy Marableof Waco, and KimHatchettand husband, Richard,of Midland; sons, Mark and wife,JoAn,and Clayton and wife, Jenn; grandsons,Boots andConlee;and granddaughter, Taylor, all of Waco; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
