Born on October 5, 1960, in Waco, Texas, Rickey was the fourth eldest of five siblings, raised with love and strength by his parents in the heart of a close-knit family. His infectious humor, tireless work ethic, and warm presence touched countless lives, leaving an enduring mark on his community.
Rickey spent most of his life in Waco, where he was a familiar and cherished figure, known to many as "My UPS Man". For over twelve years, he served with dedication at the United Parcel Service, delivering not just packages but also smiles and kindness to those along his route. His commitment to his work mirrored his devotion to his family, a role he embraced with unwavering love. Rickey was a proud father to his three sons, Rickey Jr., Emilio, and Jeno, and a devoted husband to his wife, Ellen Flores, with whom he shared thirty-one beautiful years of marriage. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and shared moments that will be treasured forever. On January 4, 2012, Rickey faced a significant challenge when he suffered a severe stroke, leading to his early retirement. Yet, true to his spirit, he met this trial with remarkable resilience and his trademark sense of humor, never letting adversity dim his light. Ellen, his steadfast partner, remained lovingly by his side, offering care and companionship through every moment. Their bond was a testament to the power of love and commitment, inspiring all who knew them. Rickey's legacy lives on through his family.
He is survived by his wife, Ellen Flores; his sons from his previous marriage to Linda Smith, Rickey Jr. and his wife Edith, Emilio and his partner Ashley, and Jeno with his partner Erin; and his cherished granddaughters, Valeria, Avery, and Farah, who brought endless joy to his life. He is also survived by his siblings, Emmitt Jr., Dora, Steve, Machelle and their spouses, as well as numerous nieces and nephews who will carry his memory forward.
Rickey was preceded in death by his parents, Rita Joyce Flores and Emmitt Flores Sr, with whom he now rests in eternal peace. A man of humor and heart, Rickey had a gift for making everyone feel welcomed, whether through a quick joke, a warm conversation, or his quiet, steady presence. His laughter echoed in the stories he shared, the memories he created, and the love he gave so freely. In Waco, his spirit will linger in the streets he walked, the homes he visited, and the hearts of those he touched. The funeral service to honor Rickey's life will be held at Lakeshore Funeral home for the viewing and Rosary Ceremony, following mass at Saint Frances on the Brazos, with pallbearers Emmitt Flores Jr., Steve Russell Flores, Stevie Flores, Rickey Flores Jr., Emilio J. Flores, and Jeno D. Flores. With honorary pallbearers: Karl Lauritzen Jr, Carlos Ancia Sr, Jay Flores and Dannie Williams Ill
