Robert Harris Obituary

Robert Harris

Jan. 24, 1950 - Aug. 3, 2021

Robert Glee "Bob" Harris, son of the late William Steve Harris, Sr. and Dana Mae Waner Harris, was born on January 24, 1950, in Dallas, Texas. He passed from this life on August 3, 2021, in Waco, Texas. His death was caused by a major heart attack. He survived his younger sisters, Linda Kay Harris Laney and Glenda Gay Harris Devereaux. Bob was a traumatic-head-injury survivor of a major car wreck in March 1966. Despite his accident and head injury, he successfully graduated from Permian High School in Odessa, Texas in 1969.

After the deaths of his parents, Bob moved to Waco in 1992 under the care of his sister Dee Ann Harris-Tiner and her husband H. J. "Red" Tiner. While in Waco he successfully worked on the night maintenance crew for Walmart for 25 years, when he was forced to retire due to dementia. During his time in Waco he loved bowling, singing low-bass in the church choir, and eating lots of chocolate cake and ice cream.

He loved life and always had a smile and a wonderful sense of humor. Growing up he was known as Bobby. In Waco he was fondly known by all as Uncle Bob. One never knew what Uncle Bob was going to say. Due to his dementia, he retired to The Atrium of Bellmead Nursing Home in January 2015. His life was enriched there by the staff and residents and he in turn enriched many lives there. He quickly became everyone's helper. He was involved in all the nursing-home activities. He would never let his sister take him on an outing when there was a bingo game going on. When he passed away, he was President of the Residents' Council at The Atrium.

After 55 years Bob is now completely healed. He is in Heaven giving his sisters a hard time and singing low-bass in a Heavenly choir. He left behind his older brother, William Steve Harris, Jr. and Connie Nelson; his sister, Dee Ann Harris-Tiner and husband, H. J. "Red" Tiner; nieces and nephews, C. J. Harris of Austin, Texas, Brandi Tiner of El Paso, Texas, Bobbi Marquardt of Leander, Texas, Lisa Marie Luce of Ft. Worth, Texas, Charity Sybill of Atlanta, Georgia, Dana Kendrick of Granbury, Texas and David Kendrick of Granbury, Texas; a favorite Uncle James "Jimmy" Waner of Odessa, Texas and numerous devoted cousins, great-nieces and nephews, and friends.
