Robert William Paris passed away peacefully in his sleep at his home on January 2, 2021. He was recovering from hip surgery at the time of his passing. He was 82. He was born on November 10, 1938, in Prairie Hill. He attended Riesel Schools and grew up in the Elk area. Mr. Paris was a retired welder with a long career as a foreman in that profession. He was a successful rancher and lived on the family ranch at Axtell, Texas. He was a talented man with many skills and a very strong work ethic. He had a love for cars and boats in his younger days and was a talented water skier and an expert diver. In his retirement years, he loved to work on his ranch, and enjoyed his time outdoors.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris; his parents, William Charles (Jack) Paris and his mother, Lillie Mae (Pavelka) Paris; two granddaughters, Barbara Lynnette Potts and Cheryl Marie Shaver; and a great-grandson, Conner Wade Maines.

Mr. Paris leaves to cherish his memory five children, Carolyn Potts and husband, Thomas, of Mart, Roberta Mathis of Axtell, Jerrell Shaver and wife, Pam, of Axtell, Bertha Annette Musgrove, and husband, Edward (Bubba), of Axtell, Melissa Saulter and husband, Ray, of Axtell; one brother, Jay Von Paris of Axtell; ten grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

There was no formal service and Mr. Paris was cremated per his wishes. Memorials to Robert Paris will be accepted and may be submitted to the First Methodist Church of Mart for the Jesus and Me after school program at the following address, Mart JAM, PO Box 245, Mart, Texas 76664.

Robert was my cousin. My dad was O. W. Paris (Osley Washington) but no one called him that. Robert came to my moms funeral and we had a nice visit. Sorry for your loss
