I am so sad to hear about Sam's passing. I went all thru elementary school at Northeast Elem with him and then on to Penn Ave for 7th grade where he was in my homeroom again, and on thru high school at Fort Hill. He will always be Sammy to me. We also all knew Danny and Andy, and his mom would come to school, too - she was so pretty. He was so cute, very smart and shy which was tricky since the girls loved him in elementary school. We were a pretty close community living "out Valley Road" somewhat separated from town. My favorite memory which probably embarrassed him to death, was 3 or 4 girls in maybe 2nd or 3rd grade used one of our chapsticks and then we each kissed him (probably on the cheek- we were pretty tame) Shy adorable Sammy just tolerated us- HA! May God comfort all of you and bring you peace.

My dad was an exemplary human being. He was relentlessly humble and kind and always put his loved one´s needs before his own. Saying that he loved cars is an understatement. Saying that he loved to read, also an understatement. He had an otherworldly connection with his pets. He loved the life he had worked so hard for and didn´t need anything else. I can just picture him unwinding at the end of the day by reading and listening to a baseball game on the radio. He had an unforgettable laugh and a sly, sarcastic sense of humor. He wouldn´t hug me so much as squeeze me, and it always made me feel so loved. I´m thankful that he was able to meet his three grand babies, my kids: Ivan Jr. (little i), Ivana (Eva), and Zelda (ZZ). They will grow up knowing how special their grandpa was and how much he loved them, and all of us. Dad, I will miss you forever, I love you. Love, "Ouida"
