Sandra Pulliam Obituary

Sandra Pulliam

Jan. 30, 1950 - Feb. 17, 2023

Sandra Kay Vrba Pulliam, 73, passed away peacefully, Friday, February 17, 2023, at Providence Village.

Graveside service will be at 2 p.m., Wednesday, February 22, at St. Martins Cemetery in Tours, Texas. Visitation will be Tuesday, February 21, from 5 – 6:30 p.m., with a rosary to begin at 6:30 p.m., at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home, Deacon Greg George as Celebrant.

Sandy was born in Waco, Texas, on January 31, 1950, to Eugene and Virginia Vrba. After Sandy graduated from Reicher Catholic High School in 1968, she entered the workforce and began her 40-plus year career at Texas State Technical College in administration. She remained close friends with many of her high school classmates. Sandy returned to school in 1984, attending McLennan Community College. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Baylor University in the Fall of 1989. She enjoyed many hobbies which included travel, bunco and, of course, her trips to HEB at all hours. She also hosted every Christmas celebration for her family.

Sandy will be remembered fondly as a loving aunt, daughter, sister and friend. She had a gift of making friends wherever she went. She had the biggest and most generous heart. If you ever needed help or support, Sandy was the person to go to and she never asked anything in return.

Sandy was preceded in death by her father, Eugene Vrba; and brothers, Randy and Terry Vrba.

She is survived by her mother, Virginia (Sweetie) Vrba; sister, Debbie Hillin (Robby) of Valley Mills; brother, Gary Vrba (Denise) of Gatesville; sister, Lisa Choate (Dave) of Dallas; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Pallbearers will be her nephews.

The family invites you to leave a message or memory on our "Tribute Wall" at www.WHBfamily.com.

My condolences to Sandy's family. Sandy was a friend of mine as we went through MCC and Baylor Business School together. We took classes together, helping each other get through studying and exams. She was such great support for me. Thoughts and prayers go out for the family.

My earliest memory of Sandy, as eldest cousin, is her babysitting us, " Jeanette's girls." There may have been some "awe" over the pretty, older, teenage cousin. She chatted with us while sketching in an art pad, something she did, she said, when the "mood" struck her. Another time she ironed her hair. (It was the 60s no less.) Yeah, she was awe- inspiring. And never a dull moment with Sandy. Seemed she brought out our best behavior. We love you Sandy and will miss you. Our thoughts and prayers to all the family. We carry your hearts in ours. Sherry, Virginia, Melanie and Diane.
