Sandra Snowden Obituary

Sandra Kay Snowden

Aug 19, 1947 - Apr 23, 2025

Sandra Kay Snowden, lovingly known as "Sandi", went to be with Lord and Savior, Wednesday, April 23, 2025.

Family and friends will gather for visitation, Friday, May 2, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home, 6101 Bosque Blvd, in Waco. A service will be held in the chapel, Saturday, May 3, at 1:00 p.m. to honor Sandi's life and her faith. Sandi will be laid to rest at a later date next to her beloved husband at Brookside Memorial Park in Houston.

A native of Waco, Sandi was born, August 19, 1947, to the late Odis and La Fern Hoyler Beck. She was the youngest of four children and had three brothers. Sandi was raised in Waco; her father was the golf pro at Ridgewood Country Club for many years. Sandi graduated from Richfield High School in 1965. She continued her education at Baylor University, graduating in 1969 with her bachelor's degree in education. She taught elementary school for many years. Sandi taught 2nd and 3rd grade in Weierhof, Germany for over two years while her first husband was stationed there. Upon returning to the states, Sandi with her thirst for knowledge, went on to achieve Master's Degree in Education, August 20, 1974. Sandi taught in the Tomball ISD for numerous years, promoted to Assistant Principal. After receiving an Administrative Certification, she was promoted to Special Education Director. She cared deeply for all her students, but especially her special education children, she was responsible for all the special education programs district wide. Sandi retired from education in 1998 after 27 years. Her life changed dramatically around her retirement when she met Rev. David Snowden. After sweeping her off of her feet, they were married in 1997. She moved to Houston, where David was appointed Senior Pastor at First United Methodist Church. They shared over 17 wonderful years together. Rev. David Snowden passed away in 2014. Sandi returned to her hometown of Waco shortly after his passing. Sandi cherished her many wonderful friends she made over the years both in Houston and Waco. Sandi deeply enjoyed traveling with M&M Tours, especially to Nashville and the overseas trips. She was a faithful member of First United Methodist Church of Waco; her church friends became family to her, and she was blessed by each one of them.

Sandi was preceded in death by her parents, Odis and Fern Beck; her brother, Randy Beck; and her beloved husband, Rev. David Snowden.

Sandi leaves to cherish her memory her brothers, Gary Beck and his wife, Kay, and Roger Beck; her dear friends, Janice and Joe Tyus, whom took care of Sandi through her final stages of life; her close friends, Robert and Janis Mae Tyus, Joe and Cassandra Tyus, Connie and Lloyd Carll, Connie was Sandi's college roommate and they were like sisters throughout life, Thomas Black Christy Black Davis and Angie Black; along with numerous other loving family members and church friends.

Sandi's presence made the world a brighter place through her teaching, her unwavering Christian faith, and her profound love for family and friends. Her strong and caring spirit will be missed, but her legacy will continue to inspire those she leaves behind.

Sandi's family invites you to leave a message or a memory online in her "Memorial Guestbook" at WHBfamily.com.
