Tracy Slaughter Obituary

Tracy Slaughter

May 23, 1961 - February 3, 2022

Tracy Slaughter of Waco, passed away on Thursday, February 3, at the age of 60. Visitation will be 2 to 3 p.m., Saturday, February 12, 2022, at Crawford Cemetery with graveside service immediately following at 3 p.m. with Reverend Jerry Walters officiating.

Tracy was born May 23, 1961, in Waco, TX, to Donnie and Betty Slaughter. He was confirmed into the Crawford United Methodist Church as a teenager. He attended Crawford schools, graduating in 1979. Tracy attended MCC and graduated with a Bachelor of Education in Economics and History from Baylor University. Tracy began working at American Bank in June of 1984. He began as a file clerk, was promoted to Vice-President of Lending, and was a branch manager upon his retirement in 2018 from American Bank. Tracy served on the Historic Waco Foundation Board as Marketing Director for three years and the Fort House Museum Board where he was treasurer for five years.

Tracy loved life and had a heart of gold. He was willing to help anyone he could and took a chance on people when no one else would. Tracy had a passion for antique Cadillacs and big Lincolns. He enjoyed dancing and had a love for old music. In the early 80s, he could be found on Friday and Saturday nights at Mister B's. Everyone loved to dance with Tracy.

He was preceded in death by his father; maternal grandparents, Charles and Addie Travis; paternal grandparents, Alvin Slaughter, Herb and Oleta Wallen; and his beloved Peaches, Ozzy, Charlie, and Chester.

Survivors include his mother; brother, Jeff Slaughter and wife, Angie; his two nephews, Travis and Tye Slaughter whom he loved like his own; aunt, Jackie Slaughter; great-uncle, Don Travis; countless cousins and friends whom he loved dearly; and his fur babies, Pepper and Bella.

For those desiring, the family has suggested the charity of the donors own choosing, for memorial contributions.

Betty Ann, I don´t know if you remember me, but I judged to let you to know how sorry I am for your loss. I know words don´t help with the pain you are feeling but I wanted to let you know I was thinking of you.

Oh my sweet, loving Tracy, you will be sorely missed. You, with your beautiful smile that could light up a room and warm our hearts to it's very depth. I remember all those nights at Mr. B's. What great fun we had. You, me, "Julie Gail", and my sister "Jackie Brown", as you called us, we loved our crazy times. We love you Tracy. We always loved the way you smelled and looked so classy and impressive. Our darling Tracy, thank you for being our friend. Rest sweetly, fine sir. Hug my sister for me please. Y'all enjoy and don't get kicked out.
