Caroline R. Nelson, 87, of Wahoo, Nebraska, passed away peacefully at her home on June 20, 2025.
Caroline was born June 3, 1938, in Prague, Nebraska, to Adolph and Albina (Chromny) Ourada. She graduated from Prague High School in 1956 and attended business school in Omaha for two years. Caroline was a lifelong member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church and was actively involved in her church and community as a lifetime member of the Legion Auxiliary, a member of the Parish Council of Catholic Women, St. Ludmilla's Guild, and the Catholic Daughters.
Known for her vibrant sense of humor and boundless energy, Caroline enjoyed cross-stitching beautiful items, especially napkins, and was beloved for her baking skills at the Fairview Cafe in Wahoo. She worked for fifteen years at Hardees, which later became Burger King, and also provided child-care services to many families in the community.
She is survived by her children Larry Nelson of Omaha; Nancy (Dean) Henrichsons of Malmo; Tim Nelson of Malmo; Jim (Tammy) Nelson of Wahoo; Monica (Dileep) Govind of Wahoo; Gerald (Sandy) Nelson of Marysville, Missouri; Cindy Nelson of Ashland; brother Adolph Ourada of Omaha; sister Maxine (Harland) Penke of Bennington; 21 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandson.
Caroline was preceded in death by her parents; son Robert; daughters-in-law Diane Nelson and Dawn Nelson; brother Vernon Ourada; and sister Louise Stepanek.
Funeral Services were held Wednesday, June 25 at the St. Wenceslaus Church, with interment following at Sunrise Cemetery.
Memorials are requested to the family for later designation. Pruss-Nabity Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
