Geraldine A. "Gerry" Sauer was born February 28, 1937, in Warwick, New York to Clifford and Anna (Drew) Mabee. She graduated from Warwick High School in 1955.
Gerry married Clarence "Hank" Sauer on August 17, 1957, and to this union, five children were born: David, Robin, Suzanne, Dianna and James. Diana preceded Gerry in death in August 2021.
The family made their home in Yutan, Nebraska, and Gerry worked for 9 years as a clerk and bookkeeper for Hested's. She also helped Hank as a cashier at his Sauer 66 Station.
Gerry passed away at her home in Yutan on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, at the age of 88 years, 5 months and six days. She was preceded in death by her parents; and daughter, Diana. She is survived by her husband, Clarence "Hank" Sauer of Yutan; sons, David Sauer of Omaha, Robin Sauer of Yutan, and James Sauer of Yutan; daughter, Suzanne Wick of Pacific Junction, IA; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; brother, Lawrence Mabee of Warwick, NY; and sister, Betty (David) Faasse of Franklin, NJ.
The funeral service will be held at St. John's Lutheran Church in Yutan on Wednesday, August 13 at 11 AM. Interment will be at Hollst Lawn Cemetery, Yutan. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 5-7 PM at Reichmuth Funeral Home, Elkhorn Chapel. Memorials may be made to the Yutan Elementary School.
