March 1, 1941 - May 11, 2025
Joyce E. Strode, 84, of Bellevue, NE, formerly of Ashland, NE, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, May 11, 2025 in LaVista, NE. She was born March 1, 1941 in Irwin, IA to Frank and Josephine (Thraen) Schleimer. Joyce graduated from Irwin High School in 1958. In 1959, she was married to Ron Strode in Defiance, IA.
Through the years, Joyce worked for Western Electric and Telex Hygain/Bosch until her retirement in 2013. Joyce enjoyed watching horse racing and all sporting events. She loved playing cards and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In her later years, she was very fond of the time spent with her dog, Otis.
She is survived by sons, Scott Strode of Bellevue, NE and Tim Strode of LaVista, NE; grandchildren, Kelsey (Dalton) Akers, Kylie (Justin Weeks) Strode, Adam (Amy) Strode, Jason (Laura) Strode and Jeffrey Strode; great-grandchildren, Finley Akers, Maeve Akers, Paizlee Strode, Breelyn Strode, Ashton Strode and Barrett Strode; sister, Jodie Wilson; many other family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by parents, Frank and Josephine Schleimer; siblings, Donald Schleimer, Richard Schleimer and Margie Leinen; ex-husband, Ron Strode.
Funeral Service, Friday (5/16/2025) 2 p.m. at Marcy Mortuary, Ashland, NE. Officiant, Fr. Robert Matya. Visitation, Friday 12-2 p.m. at Marcy Mortuary. Interment at Harlan Cemetery, Harlan, IA.
Memorials to Nebraska Humane Society.
