Lester A. Roeber passed away Thursday, August 7, 2025, at 77 years old.
He was born to Leonard and LaVerna (Gakemeier) Roeber on September 28, 1947 in Lincoln, NE. Lester graduated from Ashland High School in 1965. He was drafted into the military and served in the U.S. Army from November 29, 1966, to November 24, 1968, during the Vietnam War. Upon returning from his military service being honorably discharged, he farmed in the Ashland area with his father and brothers his entire life.
He married the love of his life Karen Grundman on May 10, 1985. They had two daughters, Michelle and Jennifer. Lester was a 4-H Club leader for 25 years and served on the Greenwood Farmer's Co-op Board of Directors. He was also a member of the American Legion and the VFW. He loved going to sprint car races, watching UNL basketball games, and attending 4-H livestock shows.
Lester is survived by his wife of over 40 years, Karen; his daughters, Michelle (Ben) Richter of Lincoln and Jennifer (Devin) Claus of Ashland; four grandsons, Theodore and August Richter and Christian and Noah Claus; siblings, LeRoy (Linda) Roeber, Lynn Roeber and Lisa (Dave) Reisen all of Ashland; brother and sisters-in-law, Elaine (Jerry) Moore and Richard (Chris) Grundman of Lincoln, Edward Damme, Dianne Bohlken and Ronald (Marybeth) Grundman all of Talmage; many nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and LaVerna Roeber; his in-laws, Ralph and Ruby Grundman; his older brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Sharon Roeber; sister-in-law, Donna Damme; and brother-in-law, Jim Bohlken.
Funeral Service, Saturday, August 16, 2025, at 10:30 am at Trinity Lutheran Church, 31104 Church Rd. Murdock, NE 68407.
Visitation, Friday, August 15, 2025, from 6-8 pm with prayer service at 6:00 pm all at the church.
Interment with Military Honors Trinity Lutheran Cemetery.

I got to know Lester when I was a kid back in the 70´s at a local dirt track I sat many times with him and his brother, I´ve learned Lester is a man of wisdom and knowledge, I pray for his family..
