Marilyn Rochford Obituary
December 27, 1933 - April 18, 2025
Marilyn Rochford, 91 yrs, passed away April 18, 2025. She was born, December 27, 1933, to David and Julia (Shanahan) Rochford at her family's homestead in Saunders County. She earned a bachelor's degree from the College of St. Mary, Omaha, and a Master of Education Administration from the University of Nebraska at Omaha.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents; sisters: Dorothy, Camilla, Margaret, and Dolores; brothers: Gene, Gerald, and Tom. She is survived by many nieces and nephews.
The Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, April 25, 2025, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Colon, NE. Rev. Luke Fleck will officiate. Burial will be at Holy Rosary Cemetery in Colon.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Colon.

Prayers and good memories of bring taught by Miss Rochford in junior high at St. Joan of Arc and working with her at Holy Cross as the assistant. I enjoyed working with her and will remember her and her family in my prayers. We also shared in graduating from CSM in different years.

Remembering her Caring hands as she rubbed me with calamine lotion because I had been picking cherries in the tree in the back yard of their house. I was 6 or 7 years old asleep on the floor (the Colon house was small) and scratching misquote bites. She picked me up took me to the bathroom set me on the sink and we all finally got some sleep.

Marilyn was my fourth-grade teacher at St. Margaret Mary's school in the '50s. I remember her as someone who promoted learning and made it fun. She knew of my interest in history and let me borrow the fifth-grade history book at the end of the school year so that I could read it over the summer. She was a special teacher.
