Doreen Oliphant Obituary

Doreen Oliphant
October 3, 1963 - September 18, 2024
Doreen Theresa Oliphant, age 60, of Foxhome, MN, passed away, surrounded by her loving family, on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, at Sanford Medical Center, Fargo, ND.
Doreen Theresa Oliphant of Foxhome, MN was born October 3, 1963, to Donald and Donna (Hutton) Willenbring at St. Joseph's Hospital in Minot, ND. She grew up on a dairy farm in Muskego Township of Renville County, where she milked cows every morning before school. She graduated from Carpio Public School in 1981, and attended Minot State University, majoring in education. She later completed her Masters Degree in education at Southwest Minnesota State University. Doreen taught in Denver, CO, Katy, TX, Dalhart, TX, Munich, ND and finally ended up in Wahpeton, ND. During her time in Texas, she had her three daughters, who she loved unendingly. While teaching in Wahpeton, she met the love of her life, Danny Oliphant. The two were married on December 20, 2003, and spent the next 20 years building their life together in Foxhome, MN.
She had the most contagious laugh and such a bright personality. She was stubborn, and German, and had no problem letting everyone know. She loved her time going "around the horn" with Danny. Doreen had a deep love of the outdoors, including gardening, bird watching, camping and horseback riding. She enjoyed trying new recipes and collected cookbooks every chance she had. Hard work and perseverance were incredibly important to her, and she was always proud of her accomplishments. Her faith was strong, she loved spending time on the church council, and participating in the bell choir. Doreen enjoyed traveling with Danny, and looked forward to the Bucking Horse Sale in Miles City, Montana every year. They made numerous trips to Medora, developing friendships and making memories with their family. She loved to socialize, was always the life of the party, and entertained family and friends often. No one could tell a better story! She adored her children and grandchildren and they truly were her life. She will be loved and missed always, by so many. As she would tell us all, "This too shall pass," and "I love you more, I said it first."
She was survived by her husband, Danny of Foxhome, Minn.; daughters, Lyndsey (Jerome) Gustin of Page, N.D. and their children, Charli, JJ, Aynsley, and Audrey; Katelyn Chapman of Foxhome, and her children, LeLand and Raelyn, Megan (Nathan Stumpe) Chapman of Chandler, Ariz., Jeremie (Jill) Oliphant of Breckenridge, Minn. and their children, Marra, Sienna, Austin; Cassandra (Jeremy) Alvidrez and their children, Grayson, Cora, and Jamison; and Tanner (Alysha) Oliphant of Foxhome, their children Lawson and Danika; step-mother, Gaila Willenbring of Minot, N.D.; siblings, Diana (Tony) Fowler of Minot, N.D., Darla (Lance) Johnson of Glenburn, N.D., Debra (Byron) Grabow of Mandan, N.D., Donovan Willenbring of Foxhome, N.D.; many nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews; aunts; uncles; two great aunts; and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; maternal grandparents, Verlin and Jan Hutton; paternal grandparents, Henry and Loretta (Ahmann) Willenbring; sister, Delora; brother, Douglas; parents-in-law, Blain and Marie Oliphant; and sister-in-law, Rhonda.
Visitation was held from 5 to 6 p.m., Tuesday, September 24, 2024, with a prayer service beginning at 6 p.m., at Joseph Vertin and Sons Funeral Home, Breckenridge, MN. The memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, September 25, 2024, with a visitation beginning at 10 a.m., at Foxhome Lutheran Church, Foxhome, MN. Pastor Julie Carlson will be officiating the service. Arrangements have been entrusted to Joseph Vertin and Sons Funeral Home.
