Robert "Bob" Franz Pauly, 86, a lifetime resident of Walker, passed away on the morning of Sunday, Nov. 2, 2025 at St. Joseph.s Hospital in Park Rapids, surrounded by his children.
Bob attended and graduated from Walker School where he lettered in basketball, football and choir. As a young man he was a member of the Army Reserves and was honorably discharged with the rank of staff sergeant.
On a cold and snowy Jan. 21, in 1961, Bob wed Sandra (VanSteenwyk). They were married for 60 years before Sandra's death in 2020.
Bob worked with his father through Pauly's Walker Greenhouse doing lawn work, sodding, planting, landscaping and deliveries. In September of 1963 he started working at Cass County Highway Department where he worked as an operating engineer until November of 2002. He proudly was a member of the local 49'rs for 25 years.
Bob enjoyed many activities from grouse and deer hunting, fishing, gardening and canning. Jelly making became the latter of which he would love to share/gift as long as you "remembered to bring back the jar." He was known for having a green thumb and his love to plant trees, flowers, fruit and vegetables. Bob kept his yard picture-perfect and rumor is Sandra once accused him of shoveling snow just so he could mow the grass.
Bob is survived by his five children, Shawn (Glen Kingsley), Michelle (Jim McLaughlin), Stephanie (Rob Andrews), Rob (Jamie Pauly) and Tabitha (Gene Hagen); 20 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandbabies.
Bob is preceded in death by his wife, Sandra; son Matthew; granddaughter Samantha Rae; three sisters; two sisters-in-law; and many dear friends.
A special thanks from the family to Wayne Larson and Stan "The tree man" Chase for being such good buddies to our dad.
