Bruce MacLeod Obituary

Bruce A. MacLeod, died peacefully in the presence of his family on Saturday, December 8, 2018, in The Stanley Tippett House in Needham. He was 70. "Your purpose in life is to use your gifts and talents to help other people. Your journey in life teaches you how to do that." The author Tom Krause's words accurately describe and summarize the way in which Bruce MacLeod lived his life each and every day. Bruce would later learn in life that God would grant him the serenity to accept the things he could not change; courage to change the things he could; and wisdom to know the difference. And in great but simple ways he helped and mentored so many people whom he called friend in the N.A. and A.A. programs and he made a difference! Bruce A. MacLeod was born October 27, 1948 in Brookline a son of Lela (Raymond) MacLeod and the late Lewis MacLeod. Raised and educated in Waltham he was a graduate of Waltham High School. He married Mary Louise Beck in Saint Mary's Church on October 27, 1968. He honorably served in the United States Army from 1981- 1985. They lived many years in Waltham and shared time in Harrisville, New Hampshire before moving permanently to Zephyr- hills, Florida in 2014.Bruce worked as a mechanic for Polaroid in its waste water management facility in Waltham. He later worked for many years for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts at its waste water management facilities at Deer Island and the Concord State Prison retiring in 2013. He was an avid motorcyclist and a proud and active member of the N.A. Fellowship. His lifelong signature gift to family, friends, visitors or people in his presence was a Canadian mint. In addition to his wife of 50 years, Mary Lou he leaves their daughters Kelly A. Sabatino (Wayne) and Sheila J. Sabatino (Richard); his grandchildren Alexa, Erika, and Jordan; his mother, Lela MacLeod; his sister Cheri Wade and the late Donna Aho; his mother-in-law, Shirley Beck; also survived by close friends of many years including Douglas Frizzell and Gary Walsh and a very large extended family. Family and friends will hon- or and remember Bruce's life by gathering to visit in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham, on Saturday, December 15th from 10 to 11 a.m. followed by his funeral service at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers memorials to Wounded Warriors, 4899 Belfort Road, Suite 300, Jacksonville, FL 32256 or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105 would be appreciated.

Not sure what to say?

December 27, 2018

Psalms 90:10 says that the days of our years are 70 years, And if because of special mightiness they are 80 years.
May the memories of the wonderful times you shared together bring a smile and joy in your heart.

In all my memories growing up, you were there. Holidays, party's, vacations. You were there for all the milestones in my life.. My wedding, baby christening, everything. You never said much but when you did, you always made me laugh. I remember being a stubborn teenager mad over something. I was sitting on your porch in Waltham and you walked around from the back. I will always remember what you told me that day. When I think of you i see that huge smile. And I remember what you said that day. I still think about it 20 years later. It will stick with me forever. So Thank You. You will be missed. Im glad your at peace now. My heart goes out to Mary Lou, Sheila and Kelly, Alexa and my little sisters..Erika and Jordan. Bruce was never the type of guy to leave a job unfinished. And his job here, watching over all you girls is not finished. He will always be watching you. But now at peace, out of pain. Rest in peace Bruce. With Love, Nicole Sabatino & Family.
