Thomas Ferrick Obituary

Thomas R. Ferrick, Jr of Wayland, formerly of Waltham, died Wednesday, March 10th, in his home at the age of 66. The son of the late Thomas R. Sr. and Mary M. (Mangie) Ferrick, he was born, raised and educated in Waltham where he had resided until moving to Wayland years ago. Mr. Ferrick had retired in 1993 after over 20 years as the proprietor of the Lakeview Superette in Waltham. He then was employed by the City of Waltham in the maintenance division of the Building Department. He had served the on the City Council of the City of Waltham as a Councilor at Large from 1982 through 1986 and had also been a member of the City of Waltham's Auxiliary Police Department. An avid sports fan he enjoyed spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Elaine (Caruso) Ferrick, his daughter, Cheryl and her husband, Dennis Gullotti of Waltham and his sons, Thomas R., 3rd and his wife, Elizabeth Ferrick of Waltham, Daniel and his wife, Cheryl Ferrick of Wayland, Michael and his wife, Brenna Ferrick of Dartmouth and John and his wife, Danielle Cormier of Waltham. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Victoria, Charles, Grace, Sofia, Alicia, Elayna, Brendan, Emma, Jenna and Griffin. He was the brother of the late Barbara Horrigan and Mary E. Ferrick. Services will be held on Monday morning at 9 a.m. from the Brasco and Sons Memorial, 773 Moody Street, Waltham with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at Saint Our Lady's Church at 10 a.m. Interment with Military Honors will follow at the Mount Feake Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home on Sunday from 2-6 p.m. Expressions of sympathy may be made in his memory to American Diabetes Assoc. at www.diabetes.org or the National Kidney Foundation at www.kidney.org. A guy like Tom was a real asset to Lakeview community as well as the City of Waltham. He always greeted people with a warm and sincere smile. He was the "genuine article" as they used to say. Our condolences to both family and friends. We are diminished.
