Paul E. Lochard, 98, of Wapakoneta, died 9:05 a.m., Friday Feb. 22, 2019, at The Gardens At Wapakoneta. He was born Aug. 18, 1920, in Shelby Co. the son of Charles & Agnes (Rike) Lochard, who preceded him in death.  He was married to Emma Ave Kah and she preceded him in death. Then on June 21, 1965, he married C. Janell Schneider, and she survives.
Other survivors include five children, Raymond (Kathy) Lochard, Wapakoneta, Thomas (Patricia) Lochard, Port Jefferson, Anthony W. (Judy) Lochard, Spencerville, Cynthia Ann (John) Klosterman, Wapakoneta, Marian Annett (James) Kreger, Toledo; a former son-in-law, Karl Schlegel, Wapakoneta; 17 grandchildren, Eric Lochard, Tony Ray (Chris) Lochard, Michelle (Duane) Howard, Jill Lochard, Jeff (Patti) Lochard, Brad (Angie) Lochard, Adam Murray, Anthony (Kim) Lochard, Tim (Alex) Rostorfer, Brian (Myria) Rostorfer, Monica (Marc) Crist, Angela (Jon) Merricle, Danny (Linda) Klosterman, Katie (Jeff) Paulus, Nick (Samantha) Klosterman, Hans (Laura) Schlegel, & Heidi (Eric) Hahn; 43 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Debbie Lochard, and two brothers, Carl & William Lochard.
Paul owned and operated Lochard's Marathon, Wapakoneta, for over 30 years. He was a graduate of the Perry Twp. High School, Shelby Co., and a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps. He was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran church, Wapakoneta, and a life member of the Wapakoneta V.F.W. Post #8445. He was a former member of the Wapakoneta Country club and the American Legion Post #330. Paul's hobbies included golfing, playing bridge, walking, traveling, reading and watching the Cincinnati Reds.  
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Tuesday Feb. 26, 2019 at the St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Wapakoneta, Pastor Doug Pretorius officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenlawn Cemetery, Wapakoneta, where military rites will be conducted by the Wapakoneta V.F.W. Post #8445. The family will receive family and friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Monday at the Eley Funeral Home & Crematory, St. Rt. 501, Wapakoneta, and one hour prior to the service Tuesday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the St. Mark's Lutheran Church or The Gardens at Wapakoneta. Condolences may be expressed at
