Clark Odor Obituary

Clark William Odor, 73, of Columbia, MO died April 2, 2025, of pancreatic cancer at Caring Hearts and Hands of Columbia. He was born on July 19, 1951, in Warrensburg, MO to Carlyle Kurtz Odor, Jr. and Minnie Malcolm Sheppard Odor. Maternal grandparents were CW and Helen Sheppard of Warrensburg. The family moved to Columbia, MO when Clark was 1 yr. old.
Clark is survived by his wife of 26 yrs. Debora (Zimmerman) Brettell Odor and their daughter, Crystal Odor of the home; four stepdaughters Lauren Brettell and Jacob Wilson (Takoma Park, MD). Anne Brettell and Ian Adams (Neenah, WI), Emily Brettell and Sean Malloy (Collierville, TN), and Sarah Brettell and Michael Stunson (Silver Spring, MD); three grandchildren- Robert and Bennett Malloy and Eleanor Adams. He is also survived by his three sisters, Christina Wilde (husband, Walt) of Springhill, TN, Cynthia Blosser of Jefferson City, MO and Catherine Stilec-Stevenson of Greenwood, MO. He is also survived by his aunt, Nancy Odor of Lee's Summit, MO. and cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Cliff Odor and brothers-in-law Charles Stilec, Robb Stevenson and John Blosser.
Clark earned a BS degree in Graphic Arts (1974) and a BS in Geography (1975) from Central Missouri State in Warrensburg, MO. Following his undergraduate education, Clark attended Kansas State University in Manhattan, KS where he received a Masters in Regional and Urban Planning.
In 1978 he relocated to the Memphis area when he was hired as a Transportation Planner for Memphis and Shelby County Division of Planning and Development. In 1983 he was promoted to Manager of Transportation Planning and Manager of the Metropolitan Planning Organization. In 2001 he transferred to the City of Memphis Engineering Dept.
After 33 yrs. at City Hall, Clark retired in 2012. He and the family moved back to Columbia after renovations were complete at his grandfather Odor's home (circa 1940) where they lived.
Funeral arrangements include visitation at Parker-Millard Funeral Home,12 E Ash Street on Saturday, April 26 from 1-2:30pm and then services following at First Christian Church, 101 N Tenth St. at 3:30 pm. Private graveside burial will be Sunday, April 27 at 12 noon at Sunset Hills Cemetery, Warrensburg, MO. The funeral will be live streamed and archived.
