Sharon Lockard Obituary

Sharon Kay Lockard, a lifelong resident of Warrensburg, Missouri, passed away peacefully in her sleep on March 29, 2025, at the age of 80.

While her passing leaves a space that cannot be filled, her legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering spirit lives on in all who knew her.

Born on July 16, 1944, to Melvin and Mary Alice Welch, Sharon embraced life in Warrensburg with warmth and dedication. She gave 31 years of service to the Warrensburg School District, touching countless lives with her kindness and quiet strength. Sharon shared an extraordinary 63-year love story with her husband, Eugene "Tiny" Lockard. Together, they built a life filled with joy, devotion, and the kind of bond that inspires others. She was known for her quick wit, loving heart, and yes-her determined streak that often made those closest to her smile.

Family was the heartbeat of Sharon's world. She cherished every moment spent with her daughters, Renee and Robin, and took immense pride in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Whether solving crossword puzzles, watching old western movies, or simply sharing stories around the table, Sharon found joy in the everyday and beauty in the people she loved.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Tiny; daughters Sharon Renee Shumate (Lynn) and Robin Lockard Ames (Lori); sister Janet Borchers; brother Lonnie Welch; grandson Dwayne Webb (fiancée Amanda Johnson); great-granddaughters Alexus Cowick (Chad), and Angelina Johnson; and her precious great-great-granddaughter Anastasia Cowick. She also leaves behind a wide circle of extended family and friends who will carry her memory in their hearts.

The family will receive friends from 12:30-1:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 5, 2025 at Sweeney-Phillips & Holdren Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 1:30 p.m. Interment will follow the service in Sunset Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Dwayne Webb, Jesse Welch, Christian Green, Danny Temple, Chad Cowick, and Jayden Welch.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Children's Mercy Hospital or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and left in care of the funeral home.

Sharon's legacy is one of love, laughter, and an unwavering devotion to family-a legacy that will continue to inspire all who knew her.
