Agnes Stoertz Obituary

Agnes Dewees Stoertz died peacefully at home with family by her side September 1, 2024, at the age of 99. She is survived by daughters Catherine Stoertz (Colin Hill) of Swalciffe, England and Nancy Stoertz Scheider of Manassas, VA, daughter in-law Ona Ringerud Stoertz of Carrington, ND, grandchildren Jonathan Scheider, Christopher Scheider (Kelly), Diana Haines (Chris), Jessica Stoertz-Larsen (Kristofer) and Daniel Stoertz (Erin), and five great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents William T. and Caroline Cope Dewees; sisters Elisabeth Synnestvedt and Margaret MacLaren; loving husband of 51 years, Howard Stoertz, Jr.; and son David W. Stoertz.
Born May 3, 1925, in Linn County, Iowa, her family moved around quite a bit before settling in Bucks County, PA. She qualified as an Occupational Therapist and worked at the Children's Seashore House in Atlantic City, NJ. She married Howard Stoertz, Jr. in May 1950. They moved to Northern Virginia where Howie worked for the CIA and she was a homemaker who also pursued her interests in gardening and many crafts especially pottery. She was generous with her time and talents and her hand made creations can be found in the homes of friends and family around the world.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, October 19, 2024 at the Herndon Friends Meeting 660 Spring St. Herndon, VA 20170. A full obituary can be found at www.moneyandking.com.
