This morning I tried to make contact with Doc Hunter by email and found out of his passing today 8 July 2011. I attended his retirement at the FT Myers Officers Club Nov. 5, 2010 at his invitation and we had a ball laughing together. I am shocked to read of his passing and I want to pass my condolences to his family and many friends. Doc and I came to know each other when he began work on the SBS training Course at the Pentagon and we started with a cup of coffee. I consider our long friendship one of the best and continued after I retired. I will miss him but remember him forever a great man and one of the best to live on this planet. Hello Hunter family, I am so saddened to hear of Dr. Hunter's passing. I can only remember him as a very handsome, distinguished, and kind man- and his smile was knowing. I was just a little girl then but the impression he made is lasting. Sending you all my love, Marlen Clemmons

Dear Judith, One of our guests at the Chatelaine knew that Alain was ill and had retired earlier than expected. He said he had been in hospice, but knew nothing more, and that you, my dear were probably not up to answering emails with the loss of your mother and sister earlier.
You know that you two were beloved friends and guests here at the B&B, one of our first "plankholders." (that first crew on a new ship.) I will write soon to update you on our lives, and touch base further. It was a lucky day when you came into our lives. Love Mae and Mandy

Hello Judy, Julaine and Alaine.
When I was very new to the Washington DC area, I would frequently get lost and very nervous when I was driving in DC. A few times I called Judy for directions and twice I got Alaine on the phone. He was so kind and calming and gave me specific directions. I remember his kindness always.
Of course Tom and I remember all of the years of friendship and fun also. We Eddystone girls who got together with our husbands who miraculously all got along well together.
Much love,
Barrie Zucal

Judith and Family,
My mom Linda and I, are saddened by Col. Hunter passing. When my dad passed away September 16th, I tried to find the phone number he had written when the Colonel called this summer, but I was not able to find where my dad had written it. My mother and I both talked with Alain during the call, when he expressed concern about my dad's health. My father was so please to hear from Alain after so many years. Alain was very special to my Mother and Father and we will always hold dear the memories of Alain, you, and shared memories and experiences. Mom, asked me to let you know, she will remember Alain and you in her prayers.
Peter has our contact information.

Judith and Family, Deb and I are very sad over the loss of your wonderful husband. I have know him personally for over the past 15 years as both a contractor and as a friend; and, I have found him to be a remarkable person. His warmth, wit and professional integrity were always evident in his daily communications with his co-workers, friends, family and contractors. On many occasions, I watched him take extra time to be sure that his points were understood and comprehended. He was always a teacher in every sense. I feel so blessed to have known him for he is a guidepost for what we all should be. We will all miss him very much.

A true gentleman. Alain could bring comfort and poise to a room just through his presence. I will certainly miss his infectious laughter and handshake always followed by a strong hug. Judith, my heart sank when I heard of Alain's passing, he was one of the first volunteers I had the opportunity to meet and work with here at Penn State - he was a leader and a friend.
I will continue to pray for Alain, you, and your entire family.

Dear Judith and Family,
You have lost a loving husband, father and grandfather.
We have lost a dear and good friend. I had the privilege of working with Dr. Hunter for many years in the small business office at the Pentagon. He was a dedicated and a true professional in the Federal government.
Whenever I think of Dr. Hunter, I’ll remember the time we were waiting for our flight out of Reagan National. Dr. Hunter always had a great sense of humor. As we approached our two selected seats in the terminal, I said to Dr. Hunter “look who is sitting across from us…. that is the professional golfer from Spain..….. Sergio Garcia”. Dr. Hunter responded in a low voice, and said with a smile, that he would not even recognize him if he was standing on a sidewalk next to him. At that moment, Sergio looked at us and smiled. Dr. Hunter’s smile and laughter will be missed by all!
Please know that we consider ourselves blessed to have been close friends over the years. May he rest in peace.
With deepest sympathy,

Dr. Hunter, words aren't enough to express what you have truly done with your life. As a service member, you have demonstrated great-leadership, competency, and selfless-service to that of your troops! As a DoD Civilian, you have mentored, counseled, and inspired countless individuals to become productive members of society; a true Doctor of Education, who has helped influence the decisions in my life.
You will be missed greatly!

I was not only honored but feel extremely privileged to have known and worked with Alain for the past 15 years. He indeed was a man of strong faith who always made everyone feel they can make a difference and that they added value.
Dr. Hunter was one of the kindest, gentlest spirits I have ever been associated with; he also cared so deeply for this country and gave his all towards helping to ensure America lived up to its core values.
Gwen and I both are so very sorry for the passing of a great husband, dad, grandad, friend and outstanding leader. We pray that God will bless each of you strength, courage and understanding that Alain has physically departed but the essence of his being shall always be with you in your hearts and minds.
Hold on to the happy memories he gave to you all over the years he was on this earth and remember that we will see him again when the Lord victoriously returns!
May God's Grace and Mercy sustain you!

Dear Judith and family: Your husband was a great man. I never heard him say anything negative and always enjoyed the fellowship in discussing our beloved Penn State. It was at Alain's encouragement that I pushed my three oldest children through college. Of course, being from Pennsylvania, we shared many hours discussing Joe Pa and the excellent educational programs at Penn State. I am truly a better person for having known your husband. You and your family will be in our prayers. Love, Lauri Brown and Family

Judith and family: Thanks for sharing Alain with us in the Air Force Small Business world for so many years. He was not only a gentleman, he was a gentle man; a friend, a leader of men and women. We worked hard together, laughed a lot together, drank probably too much wine together. But, we always got the job done thanks to his vision, leadership and patience. There are people all over the Air Force Small Business world who are better, smarter, and more effective public servants because of Alain. I know he is truly in Happy Valley now. Nobody ever deserved it more.

Doc was such a wonderful person and I always enjoyed it when we got together at small business conferences. We shared memories of people we had worked with through the years over a glass of wine or over a martini. My sympathies go out to his family and friends because he will truly be missed by all. I also feel very lucky to have known Alain and am so blessed that I was able to share a small part of his laughter and joy that he shared with so many.
