I am so shocked and saddened at the loss of Alan.
I knew him from when he was fifteen and was so impressed with his open hearted warmth and his innately courteous nature . It stood out . Especially at that age .
At a party once a male friend of ours was standing next to me as we watched Alan interacting and this friend turned to me and said ' wow Alan really is a gentleman isn't he ?'
' Yes take a lesson '
Alan is one of the people I loved best in the world .
I always though there was plenty of time to catch up .
My profoundest condolences to his family .
I will always love and miss you Alan Howar xxx

I'm sure I'm not alone when I say that Alan was my best friend-- he was an amazing friend to so many people. His generosity, kindness, and odd-ball wisdom were priceless. My heart goes out to his family.

Alan in addition to everything else loved to fish. Charlie Barbee, Alan, Ray and I spent many days together in the Atlantic Ocean's Gulfsteam with Captain Dicky Harris catching marlin (Alan's favorite) Tuna, Mahi-Mahi and Wahoo. We always had a blast.
I went out a couple times on Alans fast boat as well, those trips were always exciting because we were never sure we would make it back to shore I know Alan missed Ray terribly as we all do, so now they can be together again. Alan I'm gonna miss you buddy.

Dear Alex, Nathan, Elaine, Cindy and the kids,

I am at a loss for words. I am truly crippled with grief. I cannot possibly covey how deeply saddened I am over the loss of Alan. My heart genuinely aches for each and everyone of you. For 25 years Alan was my best friend. I have nothing but warm, fond, loving memories of times past. Alan was a bright shining light in my world. The very last thing he said to me on December 4th, his Birthday was that he would call me on mine ....December 16th which happens to be the day we celebrate Alan's life. Not a day will go by that he isnt consuming my every thought. The only solace in this tragedy is that someday we will all meet again. Rest In Peace sweet Alan.

I knew Alan for 50 years. We traveled to NYC as teenagers. He helped me design a beautiful wedding ring and other jewelry over the years.

We had many enjoyable meals and memorable times together. He will be missed greatly! Rest in peace my friend.

Alan was the project manager of my apartment renovation. I love how it turned out...and i cannot enter my apartment without remembering him. He is always with me. I called him the 'mix-master' because he always knew who to put you in touch with when you needed things done. Alan is already sorely missed. It will take some time to move through my grief. Love you, my friend.
