Mike, Donna, & Bryan (and Mrs. Kay), I just heard the sad news and am writing to offer my heartfelt condolences. It was always enjoyable to visit with your dad (and mom) in the kitchen after a rousing game of basketball at Merrywood. Your father was always so engaging and hospitable. What terrible news today in the Post.

24 years ago,Mr. Alan I. Kay responded to a letter written to him by a 17 year old High School student. The letter was a request for this student to follow him during a "typical" day in the life of a developer. Mr. Kay was most generous and kind with his time and teachings. This simple act changed my life, and for that I am forever grateful. Mr. Kay was truly a very special person and I will always remember him. Mrs. Kay, I offer my deepest sympathy and utmost respect to you and your family.

I was hired to answer phones in Alan's office for just one week 35 years ago. I ended up working for him off and on for 20 years! What an adventure! I tell my grandchildren wonderful stories about Alan, Donna's Bat Mitzvah, Uncle Sid's adventures, hiding Michael's car and all the great memories I have of those years. I will remember him always. Dianne, may the love of friends and family carry you through. Alan will be missed by so many.
