ALBERT CHANG Obituary


ALBERT Y. CHANG  
Died on Saturday, December 13, 2014, age 84, after a long struggle with Parkinson'sdisease. Born in Ningbo, China on October7, 1930 he was raised in Shanghai but laterfled to Taiwan in 1949 to escape theCommunists. He graduated from theNational Cheng Kung University (NCKU)with a B. Sc. in Electrical Engineering in1956. He also served in the ROTC inTaiwan, reaching the rank of 1st lieutenant.He emigrated to the United States,eventually becoming a citizen. He pursuedpost graduate education at Virginia Tech inthe early 1960s, receiving a mastersdegree. During that time he met andmarried his wife, Maria. He subsequentlywent to work at IBM in Poughkeepsie, NewYork, where he had a distinguished careerspanning 30 years, earning several patents.He also worked briefly at Eaton inMilwaukee, Wisconsin in the late 1990s, where his wife died in 1998. He then movedto the Washington DC area, where he livedthe remainder of his days. He is survived byhis only child, Thomas, who is a physicianat Georgetown University Hospital. Friends will be received at the First BaptistChurch, 55 Adclare Rd., Rockville, MD on Saturday, December 20th from 9-10 a.m. where Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Interment Parklawn Memorial Park.
