ALBERT J. HEIER  (Age 89)  
Albert Heier of Springfield, VA passed away on January 4, 2022. Al was born in Grainfield, KS on October 29, 1932 and graduated from Conception Seminary College and ordained as a Catholic priest in 1958. In 1971, he began a new life in Washington, DC, and married the love of his life Renée Duerr in 1972. He became a public affairs officer at EPA, retiring in 1998. Al was is preceded in death by his parents, Magdalena and Peter Heier, and four brothers, Valentine, Christopher, Frank, and Elmer Heier. Al is survived by his wife Renée, his daughter, Elizabeth Hopewell, her husband Peter, and their children, Jack and Erin. He is also survived by his three sisters, Rosina Kovar, Bernita Taylor, and Verlene Feldt. Al was an unbelievably kind, compassionate, humorous, and wise man. He had many passions, including golf, gardening, history, and debate, but no passion greater than to strive each and every day to make this world a better place for those less fortunate.
