Al was a wonderful friend going back to our days at UMass when we were in charge of the summer intramural sports program. I saw him every year thereafter at the ACSM meetings; he was a good scholar and great man; I will miss him: all the best to his family;

"Want little: you'll have everything.
Want nothing: you'll be free.
I was happy because I didn't ask for anything."

Al was a dear friend in our youth. When I was in the Army, I visited him when he was in grad school at U of MD. Although I knew Jerry, I did not know Al's wife and children. Too bad we we failed to link as I had 2 kids with families in Fairfax. Our deepest sympathy to his family.

On behalf of the Astle family: Our thoughts and prayers have been and continue to be with the extended Morris clan. We are sorry for your loss. But know that Al must have been proud of the great men his sons have become, and the families they are raising, and that was surely some satisfaction as he left this earth. Semper Fidelis

Just learned of Al's passing. We met at the University of Maryland in 1966 while working on our advanced degrees, and became good friends and ran many miles together, including several Marine Corps Marathons. Al also moved to Norfolk for government employment responsibilities and became active in our running club. I have not seen Al in years, but have many fond memories of some great times together. May his family be blessed.

Pop you lived your life on your own terms and you were always curious and trying to learn more each and every day. You also worked hard your whole life and believed with a passion that a healthy life meant a good dose of exercise and sweating alongside whatever you did to exercise your brian. You were one of a kind and will be missed by many. I love you.
