Anita Morris
On Friday, March 10, 2023, Anita Morris of Centreville, MD. Beloved Wife of the late Bernard Morris; devoted mother of Marc Morris (Dawn Hauck) and Lori Morris (Mark Pelavin); Loving sister of Joseph Epstein; Cherished grandmother of Jordan Pelavin and Daniel Pelavin; Loving Sister-in-Law of Sharlene Sakol. Also survived by her dear friend Pat Tominovich and the Tominovich family.
Brought to the United States as a young child by her mother fleeing Nazi Germany, she grew up in Pittsburgh, PA and attended Pittsburgh University. There she met Bernard Morris, to whom she was married for 57 years. Their love for each other was obvious to any and all who knew them, and was the defining force of both of their lives. Before moving to Centerville, MD in 2007, they lived in Bowie, MD for over 40 years, raised their children there, were leaders in their synagogue, and gathered an enviable circle of friends. She loved her work for the Prince George's County Public School System, helping run various school offices during a long and distinguished career. She was a dedicated volunteer for the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum and Compass Regional Hospice. She loved summers at the beach in Ocean City, Maj Jong, Hallmark TV movies, and spending time with her family and many, many friends.
The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, March 14, 2023 at Judean Memorial Gardens Chapel, 16225 Batchellors Forest Road, Olney, Maryland 20832.
In accordance with Jewish tradition, please no flowers. Memorial contributions may be made to Compass Regional Hospice (compassregionalhospice.org/donate/), 60 Coursevall Drive, Centreville MD 21617.
