ANNA GAGLIO Obituary

ANNA TEGWEDD GAGLIO
An avid gardener, world-traveler, beloved wife, and loving mother and grandmother, Anna passed away on December 3, 2012, after a courageous, but long and difficult battle with Parkinson's Disease. She was 66 years old.  Born on the 30th of December, 1945 in Merthyr Tydfil, Wales to Emrys and Tydfil Morgan, Anna graduated from the University of Wales, Bangor in 1967 and St. Godricks College, London in 1969. Anna married Nicholas Gaglio in 1971 in Hampstead, London and together they spent 41 years of marriage raising two children, traveling widely, bowling, watching rugby, and spending time with friends and family. Regardless of where they lived - London, England; southern New Jersey; northern Virginia; Wiesbaden, Germany; or Hampstead, North Carolina - Anna left a well-tended garden and home filled with warmth. Naturally reserved, but securely rooted in a long line of strong-wills and strongly-voiced opinions, Anna had a wicked sense of humor, an unrelenting sense of right and an agile mind. Her sensibility and generosity will be sorely missed by her husband, Nicholas J. Gaglio; son, Nicholas E.O. Gaglio (Liza) and granddaughters, Mila and Vera; daughter, Catherine E. Gaglio Inge (James); her mother, Tydfil Morgan (100 years old); her three brothers, Alun Morgan (Lorna), Huw Morgan (Dorothy) and David Morgan (Paula); and her four sisters-in-law, Maryanne Koszyk (Walter), Diane Forbes, Patricia Grimm (John) and Andrea Gaglio (Ben Lammers). Anna's passing is also mourned by numerous loving nephews, nieces, cousins, great-nephews and great-nieces and dear friends. A memorial service was held Saturday, December 8 at Andrews Mortuary, Hampstead, NC.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Anna's name to the Lower Cape Fear Hospice and Life Care Center or to the Parkinson Research Foundation. Anna is loved.

Nick, Nicholas Cate and your extended family,
We would like to be associated with David Emrys'message of appreciation of your efforts over the last few years in caring for Anna.Like David I too have many happy memories of our sister's intelligence and her many kindnesses to Dorothy and I and our children (and grandchildren). We will miss her terribly. In the words of an ancient Gaelic blessing;-
"May the road rise to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face.
May the rains fall softly upon your fields until we meet again.
May God hold you in the hollow of his hand."

Dear Nick, Nicholas, and Catie,
There is a huge void in everyone's life with the passing of Anna. We were fortunate to be able to spend some extra time with her this summer. Anna always made us feel welcome in her home. With all her problems she never complained or looked for sympathy. She will definitely be missed by all.

Dear Nick and the Gaglio Family,

Although I'd never met Anna, Diane Forbes and I have been friends since college and I knew her through Diane's eyes. Diane had great love and respect for her sister-in-law and I know that's how the family felt about her. I can't even imagine the loss you all feel now. I'll keep you in my prayers with the hope that your memories of such a loving and fine woman will sustain you in the time to come.

With sympathy,

I didn't know Mrs. Gaglio, only that her daughter meant a great deal to one of my daughters. I missed the great happiness such light sheds on those around her. The world will be darker for her passing; the memories shared by those she brightened, however, will warm us all for a very long time.

Dear Uncle Nicky, Nick and Catie,
I want you to know that I love Aunty Anna with all my heart and will miss her dearly. You all are in our thoughts and prayers.
With all our Love,
Phebe & family.

Nick:
Please know that Anna's Welsh family - especially her mother - honour and cherish the amazing care you gave my sister through all the difficult times of her illness. You have set a standard of loving kindness which they believe is hard to duplicate.
I am also so grateful that you made sure we had those last two visits to New York so that Paula Garth and I could note and remember my beautiful sister's courage and endurance. For my part, I add these to a lifetime of memories of her intelligence, determination and unqualified affection for me - the demanding kid brother for whom she always ran interference at home, in school and community!

Dear Nick,
Gabe notified me of the death of your wiffe Anna. Please know that I hold you in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
