ANNE PECK Obituary

PECK ANNE GRIFFN PECK Change of Address for Anne Griffin Peck... Heaven At the age of 83 Anne Griffin Peck has moved to a better address than that of Ashburn, VA. Anne moved to her Permanent Address on September,17, 2012. Born April 20, 1929 in New Haven, CT to Anna Cone Griffin and John Patrick Griffin she was one of 6 children including several who were waiting to greet her at her new Home: Eileen Griffin Smith, Joan Griffin Allen and Helen Griffin Faryniarz. Margaret Griffin Pare and "baby" brother John Patrick Griffin (and wife Carol, who was loved by Anne as another sister) will continue living in NH and VT respectively until they have the opportunity to move on up with the rest of the family. Her husband Jerry was extended an invitation to move with Anne, however the timing was not right for them to move together. He will follow her after she has made a space ready for him, and when the time is right he anticipates a Heavenly reunion. Anne and Jerry met at a Neumann Club mixer at Carnegie Tech. The night they met, Jerry went back to his dorm and informed his roommate that he had just met the woman he was going to marry. From that moment on the courtship started and Jerry's grades started slipping....but it all worked out in the end... They married in February, 1951 in Bennington, VT. A stay at home Mom (and a darn good one at that), Anne raised two somewhat wonderful children - Andrew G Peck and Sarah/Sally Griffin Peck - both of Martinsburg, (Almost Heaven) WV. Anne was a member of the Catholic Daughters as well as the local Women's Club, in New Canaan, CT where she was an active volunteer at Next to New - a thrift store whose proceeds benefitted the local community, and later a member at the Falls Church, VA Women's Club. She enjoyed her family, playing bridge with an unrivaled passion for winning, baking (she made the world's best chocolate cake), winter sports in her younger days and her dogs - Loki, Monty, Zeus, and Trilby and grand dogs too - Max, Tippy and Gigi. Anne quickly settled in to her new Residence and has been receiving guests in her new Home - especially her best friend Rita, but also her Mom and Dad who she had been talking of frequently before her move as well as her sisters Eileen, Joan and Helen. All are welcome in her new Home. Funeral services will take place on Saturday, September 29, 2012 in Martinsburg, WV There will be no visitation at the funeral home. A reception celebrating Anne's life will be held after the Funeral Mass at 1 Dennis Street, Martinsburg, WV. Memorial Donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association - www.alz.org. Thank you to the staff at Heritage Hall, The Medical Center at Ashby Ponds and Capital Caring who took exceptional care of Anne. Stopping By Woods on a Snowy Evening (Robert Frost) Whose woods these are I think I know. His house is in the village though; He will not see me stopping here To watch his woods fill up with snow. My little horse must think it queer To stop without a farmhouse near Between the woods and frozen lake The darkest evening of the year. He gives his harness bells a shake To ask if there is some mistake. The only other sound's the sweep Of easy wind and downy flake. The woods are lovely, dark and deep. But I have promises to keep, And miles to go before I sleep, And miles to go before I sleep. Cheers to a life well lived Anne! You will be missed, but we'll all see you on the other side and know that you are smiling down on us now.
