Anthony Bosco Obituary

BOSCO ANTHONY BOSCO BOSCO, ANTHONY NINO, 87, of Vienna, passed away January 3, 2009. Born Antonino Bosco in Favara, Italy, Nino emigrated with his family to NYC in 1922 and graduated from Manhattan High School of Aviation Trades. He served in the Navy during WWII and survived the sinking of the USS Princeton (CVL-23) in 1944. Nino spent his entire career in military aviation, starting as a shop mechanic and eventually becoming a hydraulic engineer without earning a college degree. Like his father before him, bocce was Nino's passion and his employer-league teams won several championships. He was an avid motorcyclist, riding for over 40 years. He also enjoyed boating-humorously naming his craft "Diane's Mink" (he did eventually get her a mink coat). An amateur photographer, Nino was exceptionally accomplished at hand colorizing black and white photographs. Nino is now reunited with his loving wife, Diane, to whom he was married for 56 years. He is survived by two sons (Philip Bosco of Vienna; Rodney & Cassandra Bosco of Vienna), a sister (Josephine Correggio of Long Island, NY), four grandchildren (Christopher, Matthew, Christina & Alexander) and many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Friday, January 9 from 6 to 8 p.m. at National Funeral Home (7482 Lee Hwy, Falls Church, VA). Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 10 at 10 a.m. at National Funeral Home. Burial at National Memorial Park.
